"The end of liberty in America: Only course of action now is to fight back, electoral politics not working
Time to tell any Democrats you know to fuck off and die"
...
Yeah, this has to be the most astoundingly butthurt reaction to the election that I've seen yet. It's like... wow. o_O
It's kind of funny how the guy's reaction isn't "Well, all of our guys got crushed, so maybe we're just, you know, wrong and should, perhaps, rethink our politics" but is instead "Well, all of our guys got crushed, so that means the process clearly doesn't work, and therefore I'm going to become a gigantic, raging asshat and I encourage all of the rest of you to be gigantic, raging asshats as well." Or, perhaps I should say, an even bigger raging asshat than he already was, given that he claims in the article to have been doing things that made him a gigantic, raging asshat already.
I know this guy is just part of the lunatic fringe, but if he is representative of the tiniest fraction of the mindset of the Republican party as a whole, then it's no wonder at all that we're seeing things like petitions to the White House for states' secession and the like. It's absolutely fucking insane.
(EDIT)
And this dovetails nicely with
rabbitucker's recent post about the conservative fairy tale. The guy above is a textbook example of someone swallowing that fairy tale hook, line, and sinker.

(EDIT 2)
Oh, and the comments. Good gravy, the comments. o_O The guy is even more off his rocker in the comments than he was in the article itself.

I would amend this quote to also include the political process in general. When one is mired deep in the middle of an election cycle like this most recent one, and all which that entails (incessant deceitful negative campaign ads, rancor from just about everyone on
bothall sides, a lack of willingness by many in power to even pretend to want to try to compromise on anything at all ever, etc.), it most definitely ceases to inspire respect. In other words, it ain't pretty, that's for sure.
