"Trump says he's given advisers instructions for Iran to be 'obliterated' if it assassinates him"
Well... if the bestworst[1] happened, and Trump was assassinated by Iran, I personally hope his advisors would treat his instructions with all the respect that they deserved (and then promptly shitcan said instructions).
I'm not saying that Iran should be allowed to get away scot-free with murdering a US President, mind you. I'm just saying it really would not be an "obliteration"-worthy offense, especially in this particular case.

[1] - Well, middle-of-the-road, mostly. Trump being gone == good thing. JD Vance becoming POTUS == bad thing. Possibly an ever so slight uptick in the fortunes of the world, maybe? Vance would no longer be beholden to suck the shit off of Trump's ass hair anymore (given that, y'know, Trump would be blessedly dead in this hypothetical scenario), but who could say how much of Trump's kool aid Vance would have drunk in the meantime? He did certainly used to be rather critical of the current SCROTUS, after all. Regardless of any other considerations though, even including that of who he would be replacing, JD Vance would still be an utterly loathsome POTUS.
