Paramount Not Screening 'G.I. Joe' For Critics

Hmm, well, I already figured the upcoming G.I. Joe movie was going to suck, based on the trailer they played when I went to see Star Trek, but when they're not letting critics screen it, that's a pretty bad sign too.

Based on the supposedly really high scores from the small trickle of reviews that Paramount has allowed, it sounds like they might be handling it in about the same manner as Eidos is supposedly handling reviews for the upcoming new Batman video game.

I thought something was fishy when I saw an 80% on Rottentomatoes. I suspect it will drop.

Reminds me of the radio payola (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Payola) scandals of the 1950's.

It's not like it won't be number one, no matter how crappy it is... Not that I plan on seeing it, but it seems like nothing can stop the big hype summer blockbusters now matter how bad the quality is (see Transformers 2)

I didn't go see Transformers 2 or the new Terminator movie for the same reason I'm not going to see G.I. Joe: I saw the previews at Star Trek. I heard that the Terminator movie isn't all that terribly horrible, but that the Transformers movie sucked ludicrous donkey.

But, yeah, I agree with you that G.I. Joe will still likely be a huge hit at least for a week or so, despite everything going against it.
