Twilight Bashing.

You know what annoys me the most about the people who bash Twilight/Stephaenie Meyer? It's not so much the bashing itself, because I don't much care either way. My interest in Twilight is rather lukewarm, at best. Heck, some of the bashing I actually agree with and think is justified (though by several orders of magnitude less than the haters seem to think it's justified).

No, it's the fact that said bashing can, and will, come up out of the blue in an otherwise totally unrelated conversation (either IRL or online, but mostly online). People all over the Internet seem to think that it's perfectly okay to just pollute a conversation by relating Twilight to whatever other thing they may happen to have been talking about, usually in the weakest and most tangential of ways. More often than not, the comparison/contrast doesn't even make any sense because, rather than actually make a coherent point, they just wanted a flimsy excuse to rant yet again about sparkling vampires or whatever. And, ninety-nine times out of a hundred, they'll get away with it, because other people will then chime in with their own comments like "Oh yeah, you're right, Twilight totally does suck, doesn't it? Let's completely derail what used to be an interesting conversation in order to start bashing it again, ad nauseam. Hurr hurr hurr. We're so cool and edgy, ain't we?"

I don't see Twilight fans constantly bringing it up out of the blue for no reason during unrelated conversations. Only the haters seem to do this. Okay, you hate Twilight, you think it's stupid, I get it, really I do, so you can stop bringing it up every other breath, especially during threads that until then had absolutely nothing to do with it. It's lame and it's annoying. Seriously, Twilight bashing is well beyond the point of being stale now. If anything, it's the rabid hatedom that these movies/books have garnered that makes me fall on the side of actually liking them, or at the very least being far more tolerant of them than I otherwise might have been. Truly, I ordinarily would be able to go the rest of my life happily not thinking about Twilight at all, except that just about every other day lately I run into some asshole who wants to reiterate, yet again, how much (they think) it sucks. For me, it has almost become a sort of backlash against the backlash against Twilight, or something.

(EDIT)

In other words, it is exactly this. Good old TVTropes, you have a trope for everything, don't you?
