"How America Made Donald Trump Unstoppable"

"He's no ordinary con man. He's way above average — and the American political system is his easiest mark ever"

I don't necessarily agree that Donald Trump is "unstoppable." God in Heaven couldn't help us if he was, but I don't think he is. (I guess we'll find out, come November, assuming something doesn't happen between now and then that makes all of this a moot point.) I do, however, agree that the "presidential election campaign is really just a badly acted, billion-dollar TV show – and Donald Trump is making a mockery of it."

Also, I like the comparison between Trump and the late Ravishing Rick Rude, though I have to say that the comparison is rather insulting to Richard Rood, since Rood was just playing a role. Rood, unlike Donald Trump, wasn't actually a disgusting shitbag in real life. I mean, some people try to make the claim that Trump is just playing a role, too (and that Ted Cruz is the role that Trump is playing, har har), but here's the thing I always have to ask in situations like this: How is actually being a disgusting shitbag any worse than merely pretending to be a disgusting shitbag to the point that nobody can tell the difference? (And, no, it doesn't matter if the disgusting shitbag in question doesn't actually think he's being, or pretending to be, a disgusting shitbag. He's still being a disgusting shitbag.)

Donald Trump is essentially the real life equivalent to Stephen King villain Greg Stillson, or the closest thing we'll (hopefully) ever see to such. Or, at least, Donald Trump's public persona is eerily similar to the public persona of the Stillson character, anyway. (I mean, among other things, Trump certainly already has that whole hard hat thing that Stillson liked to do down pat... oh... wait, no, that's just Trump's hair. Never mind.) Well, okay, to be fair, at least one difference between Trump and Stillson is that I don't recall Stillson being (openly) racist the way Trump is.

(EDIT)

Oh, and speaking of comparisons between Trump and Stillson... Hell, they even use the same word I did: "eerily."

(/EDIT)

But the truly scary thing isn't that Donald Trump is a disgusting shitbag. No, the truly scary thing is that so many fucking goddamn idiots living in this country like and support this disgusting shitbag and actually want him to become the next President of the United States. Here's to hoping that Donald Trump isn't truly unstoppable.

(EDIT 2)

And now, as of 2025, i.e. almost nine full years after the above post was written, not only was Trump elected in 2016, he was also goddamn reelected in 2024. Maybe he really is unstoppable. Go fucking figure.
