The takeaway

From all the crypto/blockchain/NFT bullshit, the COVID/vaccine denial bullshit, the climate change denial bullshit, the entire Donald Trump phenomena (particulary the fact that, to this day, he still somehow has millions of supporters, despite... you know... everything), the gross popularity of RWNJ "news" "sources" such as Faux Noise and Reichfart, the fact that intensely abhorrent people like Vladimir Putin were ever allowed to run entire nations, the routine disregard of experts and the educated by those who are neither of those things, the vast, all-encompassing world religions which preach one thing but whose adherents regularly act in ways diametrically opposed to that preaching (or else act perfectly in line with it, because said preaching is abominable, in and of itself), and other such bovine/equine/canine feces, there is one blatant observation that can be made:

Humanity, on average and generally speaking, is absurdly stupid. None of those things I mentioned above would have come into existence nor would they continue to exist were it not for the reality of the fact that there are far too many gruesomely asinine people in this world. Granted, there may be a small few intelligent (evil, but intelligent) people involved in those things, but by far the largest requirement for those things to persist is the presence of far too many dangerously moronic people. Stupid, ignorant, gullible, selfish, bellicose, hateful people.

This is not news. This is not new. This is not some astonishing revelation. This is not a surprise or a shock.

This is flagrant. Obvious. Clear as crystal. And it has been the case for years, decades, centuries, millennia.

The only ones who don't believe this is true are the ones who are, themselves, among the portion of humanity that is ridiculously idiotic. And there are almost assuredly more people who are in that portion of humanity than are not.

Hell, I don't know if I don't qualify to be in there, myself. I'm not saving the world. I'm just here ranting futilely about those who are belligerently getting in the way, either because they don't know any better or because they do know better, but just don't care about anything but themselves. In my view, there's vanishingly small distinction to be made there.
