The ongoing "Trump will probably win" mantra...
I've been, perhaps unwisely, reading crap on Google and various news/opinion sites about Trump and reelection, and the vast majority of it is shit like "Trump is on track to get reelected" and "Trump will probably get reelected" and "Trump is favored to win in 2020" and so on and so forth, ad nauseam, ad absurdum, ad infinitum, reworded to be more or less dire and foreboding vs triumphant and gloating depending on the source. A lot of it is from the typical RWNJ sources (of which I only just skimmed the headlines, because why would I subject myself to garbage unnecessarily?), but a lot of it is also from left wing sources (too many of which are too often allowing right wing contributors to surreptitiously blather on their platform, presumably for the "so both sides can be heard" horseshit reasons). Regardless of the source (even the legitimate left wing ones), they're mostly saying the same things: "Trump will probably win again."
And I'm like, okay... you stupid fuckers keep on repeating this from now until the next election (especially the ones who don't want Trump to win), and it's going to turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy. If everyone keeps seeing and hearing "Trump's probably going to win" in the news and such, over and over and over, for the next year-plus, then too many of them will be like "Well then, why should I even bother voting?" Which will, of course feed into the whole "Trump winning" thing (you know, given that Trump is probably going to keep his Trumpanzees riled up enough to vote, no matter what).
I mean, it's over a goddamned year away, and we don't even know who his main opponent is going to be, yet, so why is it so "likely" that Trump is going to win, regardless? I know why the right wing assholes are continually pounding the "Trump's going to win again" drum, but why are the left wing sources also doing it?
(Unless this is all a weird ploy to try to weaponize the whole "all the polls were saying that Hillary Clinton would win and then she didn't" thing against Trump. I dunno. *eye roll*)
And that's not even counting all the "even if Trump loses, he'll probably try to contest it to stay in power" nightmare scenarios, which is a whole other kettle of fish entirely.
