"Rooster Teeth pulls Red vs. Blue and other shows from YouTube"

"The Red vs. Blue creator says it can make more ad money streaming exclusively from its website than on YouTube."

Advertising (and, more importantly, the increasingly obnoxious ways creators contort themselves to chase that sweet, sweet advertising money) was the worst thing to ever happen to Youtubethe Internetthe world in general.

(EDIT) Not that it actually matters/d to me in this particular case, since whenever I watched Red vs Blue or RWBY or whatever, it was always on Rooster Teeth's site and not Youtube to start with. That said, I use an ad blocker, because Internet ads are time-wasting and loathsome at best, or literally malicious (e.g. potential virus vectors) at worst, so I don't and won't see ads at all, either on Youtube or on Rooster Teeth's site.

And, for what it's worth, regardless of the reasons for doing so, having the ability to tell Youtube to piss off and do your own thing isn't necessarily a bad thing, either, because Youtube in general is increasingly becoming a trashfire website. That said, however, I think Rooster Teeth is probably going to lose viewers over this, via the simple fact that people who only ever watch shit on Youtube aren't going to know or find out who Rooster Teeth is or what Red vs Blue is in the first place. There's also the fact that people in the comments under the article are saying shit like "Well, I pay for Youtube Premium, which doesn't have ads, so why would I switch to watching their shit with ads when I didn't have to before?" If I had Youtube Premium I'd definitely be like the guy in the comments. However I stopped watching just about everything regarding Rooster Teeth except for RWBY probably a decade ago or more. With RWBY I enjoy the show enough to pick up the bluray/dvd of each season as they're released (Got Vol 9 last week.) so I've never watched it on youtube or on RT's website except for those mini-rwby things. So yeah, I don't particularly care about what they do for that, they won't be gaining any additional business from me, but they will have axed me off from accidentally finding any new shows they make by keeping it off youtube.

I still use youtube regardless of their choice in the matter, but I never use their site. So if they had their stuff on youtube still there would have been a chance that youtube would pop up their new series in the suggestions bar along the side. No chance for that now eh?
