For the benefit of those who skipped CS260 today...

Hu has paused, in the middle of class, and is playing "One More Minute" by Weird Al Yankovic. For no apparent reason whatsoever.

As has been said by others, the man is insane. Absolutely batshit.

I don't know whether to laugh hysterically, or weep over the lost time that I could have been spending on more important (though not necessarily more interesting) things.

Oh, and more seriously, earlier in the class he claimed to have been absolutely amazed that someone had used the line "#pragma comment(lib,"ws2_32.lib")" in their client/server assignment. He said that he'd never even seen something like that before.

Sam from Sam and Max: Hit the Road said it best: "I am filled with disgust and an odd sense of foreboding."

Yeah, I kinda feel bad for the guy. He has a masters in EE so maybe they're just kinda keeping him around until they can put him in something for CE? It's obvious he doesn't have the sort of experience Mead has. I do, however, agree with stopping in class. Regardless of how odd the break is it can help the students focus again. Hell, I actually paid attention the second half but that was partly because I ran out of Indians info to read.

It actually had the opposite effect on me. I pretty much totally tuned him out after the Weird Al thing. Then again, maybe I just got too caught up in writing the above journal entry to listen to him anymore. And it's not like I can't just look at his notes later, considering that he reads them almost word for word, more or less. All that I missed out on were the little quips and asides that he makes, which usually don't add anything to content of the lecture itself.

I like the guy. He's very amusing most of the time and attempts to make what could be really dry material not as much so. And, before today at least, he was limiting the music and such to before and after class. And sometimes his antics even actually pertained to the class itself, if in a roundabout way (the Rayman multiplayer thing, for example). But when he's stopping in the middle of class to play a Weird Al song for no real reason, as amusing as it was and as much as I like Weird Al and all, that's going a bit too far in my opinion. The class isn't long enough that he needs to give us a break in the middle. I will give him this much credit, at least: his break was pretty short, and didn't turn into a twenty-plus minute complete waste of time ala Aristidou.

Even so, at first, I thought the freshman in the singing teacher thread (http://community.livejournal.com/digipen/281411.html) on the dP LJ were being too hard on him, but now I can kind of see where they're coming from, even if I still don't totally agree with it. The comments about him using other teachers' notes and being confused about them at times definitely applies to CS260, however. And the #pragma comment thing in class today also concerned me somewhat.

But the way he pronounces WSAA as "waahsAAAAAUUGH!!"? For some reason, that has cracked me up every time he's done it (all two of them, so far).
