Writer-type stuff...

[personal profile] dmjewelle made a post on Facebook yesterday (which is currently public, so I'll just link to it from here).

I'm going to copy/paste my own replies to that which pertain to the current subject into this post. (EDIT 2) None of those links work, though, since I have since deleted my Facebook account altogether. (/EDIT 2)

#1:
"never to be published"

Sounds like me.

#2:
I've got four chapters (or a little over 11,000 words or so) of a novel I've been working on for around... (ugh, really?) three years or so now, so there is that. If I never publish anything, it will be my own fault due to procrastination and laziness (and various and sundry asinine phobias, no doubt).

(That said, I have also written almost 240,000 words of MLP:FiM/Star Trek TNG crossover fanfiction during a relatively short period in 2012-2013, which seems to have been fairly well-received, at least on the sites on which I made it available, and if I can frickin' do *that*, there's no damn reason at all I can't do *this* either.

[And that doesn't even count the 40,000+ words of shitty Castlevania/Sailor Moon fanfic I wrote back in 1998-2000 or so. Or the MST of that fic I co-wrote with Mord in like 2004-2005 or thereabouts, which was probably 2-3 times as long as the damn fic itself. Or the untold thousands of words I wrote in OW! posts, for that matter. Or the quadrillions of words I've probably written ranting about Trump on LJ/DW/FB/Twitter since around 2015-ish or so. ¬_¬])

#3:
Yeah... that MST fic was a bit over 90k words. One single frickin' chapter of that (even if you half the word count and say Mord wrote half and I wrote the other half) is roughly equivalent to the entire sum total of what I've written on my actual novel so far. -_-

#4:
Honestly, when I actually stop and count it all up like that, it's kind of incredibly ludicrous, really.

#5:
Oh, and that *also* doesn't include the, as of today, 1,458 pages worth of handwritten personal journal that I've written, since I started keeping one back in Jan 2014. The more I consider all of this shit, the more I am simultaneously inspired and depressed by it all.

Yeah... so... that is my current status as far as writer-type shit is concerned. I had been planning to write up a big, long, whiny, self-pitying, inane, baby-tantrum rant about all of that stuff here, but I got distracted by "child's birthday party" stuff yesterday and never got back to it until today... and today I'm just not feeling it. Which might be for the best, actually. *weary sigh*

(And, yeah, I'd totally read that "Bridge Girl" graphic novel, if it were a real thing.)

(EDIT) For reference, since I mention them in this post:

-- The MLP:FiM/Star Trek crossover stuff.

-- The MST of my Castlevania/Sailor Moon fanfic. The MST was co-written by [personal profile] owsf2000. (Just to note, most of the typos that are still in [and mocked in] the MST version of the original fic were fixed for the fanfiction.net version of it.)

-- As for OtakuWars! posts... meh. I'm not giving a link to that stuff here. If you really want to see them, at least some of them can probably be found via a Google Groups search for "alt.fan.sailor-moon" and "OW!" in the subject line. I posted there as "Kane Magus," naturally.
