"Robocalls, The Freakin’ Post Office, And Other Forgotten Stories - SOME MORE NEWS"

"Hi. Today we're looking back on some stories that slipped through the cracks over the last several seasons of 'Some More News,' the fictional show that details events in the fantasy world of 'The United States of America.' Cody talks about robocalls, the Post Office, sex work, that whole 'crime wave' thing, and we'll check in with one of the show's most despised villains: John Krasinski."

Holy shit, you mean to tell me that I got a notification for a Some More News video, and the video was actually already up and ready to watch? What sorcery is this? Seriously, though, I hope this means that they've given up on the teaser/premiere horseshit and have gone back to uploading their videos like normal people instead of like obnoxious assholes.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to watch it at this particular moment, but I'll most likely do so as soon as I return from the grocery store, at which point I will remove this paragraph and maybe even replace it with actually commentary on the content of the video.

Yeah, I watched it. It was okay, I guess. That's my commentary on it.

"Catching Up On The Garbage We Missed During The Pandemic - SOME MORE NEWS"

"Hi. Here is all the other terrible news you missed in 2020 while surviving a pandemic."

*looks down* Uh, I... think I got all the appropriate tags in there, at least for the stuff I have tags for, anyway, as there was a lot of stuff that I don't have tags for, like wildfires and boars and time travel and murder hornets and other such things...

And yeah, I kind of agree with Cody (except, you know, seriously instead of facetiously) in that I sort of wish that they could make these things without the time travel shenanigans and the hand puppets and whatnot. Oh well, at least Cody's jokes are slightly less non sequitur and forced than the ones on Last Week Tonight tend to be, so that's something, I guess?

As far as Tenet goes... I'd never even heard of that movie at all prior to watching the above video, so I had no idea what the joke was about, even when he explicitly said it was a Tenet joke. For some reason, at first, I thought he was saying "Tennant," as in David Tennant, and I was like, oh, has he been in something since Doctor Who? (And, apparently, he has, though it's nothing I've seen personally.)

"Orange Man Indeed Bad: 100 Years of Trump - SOME MORE NEWS"

"Hi. Here is our 100th episode... and yeah, it's about Donald Trump and all of his lies, crimes, impeachments, and insurrections."

Only slightly less than one more eternityday until Donald Jizzstain Trump is officially no longer the President of the United States of America.

UPS/USPS fuckery

Looks like my stuff is supposed to be delivered today ("by 9:00pm"), but the most recent updates (via both the UPS tracking and the USPS tracking websites), says it's still sitting in New Jersey. The most recent UPS tracking update, from December 31, says "12/31/2020 4:25 A.M. - Avenel, NJ, United States - Package transferred to destination UPS Mail Innovations facility," and the most recent USPS tracking update, from December 30, just says "December 30, 2020, 12:59 am - Arrived Shipping Partner Facility, USPS Awaiting Item - AVENEL, NJ 07001 - Shipping Partner: UPS MAIL INNOVATIONS - Your item arrived at a shipping partner facility at 12:59 am on December 30, 2020 in AVENEL, NJ 07001. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date."

So, as such, I have absolutely no idea where my shit is or when (or if) I'll actually get it. *weary goddamn sigh*

(Huh... interesting that I already have a ups sucks tag.)

(EDIT)

I should note, too, that the other part of my order (which NewEgg split into two separate orders, for whatever reason), was shipped via FedEx, not UPS or USPS, and it was delivered at my sister's place of work on December 31 at 10:05am. That, however, was merely the converter thing. The delivery that is griping my ass now, the one that was shipped via UPS, is the one with the actual SSD drives themselves.

I note, also, that I do not have a similar "fedex sucks" tag.

Granted, both UPS and USPS have some blah blah blah on their tracking sites about how COVID-19 is fucking everything up so there may be delays yadda yadda yadda, so I'm not too awfully butt-griped about this, or at least not as much as I'd likely otherwise be.

"Post Office Delivery Trucks Keep Catching on Fire"

Randomly found out just now, today, that apparently post office trucks are just catching on fire now out of the blue, mainly because they're old and need to be replaced, but because the Post Office doesn't have the money to do so, they can't be replaced.

Yet another reason why they need to be funded, on top of everything else. This isn't even a "fuck Trump" thing, not entirely, since this has been going on since at least 2014, apparently.

"The Freakin' Post Office! - SOME MORE NEWS"

"In today's episode of Some More News, we try to pack in as much information as possible about the recent attacks on the post office, and the recent damage control about how the attacks on the post office are apparently no big deal."

So yeah, that DeJoy asshole... just yet another Trump administration example in a long fucking list of examples of a guy being appointed to lead a department to which he is absolutely diametrically opposed.

MAIL

This page of Homestuck is even more relevant these days than ever, what with Trump trying to kill the Postal Service and all.

The mail is the one final hope for resurrecting a dead planet from its ashes, and the letter carriers are the brave soldiers of God in this righteous crusade. They are the defenders of the light of knowledge, free communication, and the exchange of ideas. They are the bold toters of all those little papery conduits of freedom, the white postmarked angels that whisper a message on their deliverance, a promise to the yearning: "There is hope yet."

Liberty. Reason. Justice. Civility. Edification. Perfection.

MAIL.

"Fuck You, I’m Voting"

I would risk going out during a volcanic eruption in the middle of a hurricane to be able to vote against this evil clownshoes motherfucker, much less a mere viral pandemic.

I wasn't sure it was even possible for Dumbfuck Trump to do anything else that would actively enrage me like this, as opposed to just eliciting a weary, tedious sigh and an eye roll. But there you have it. Never underestimate the ability of stupid criminals in ill-gotten positions of power to do things that piss you right the hell off.

"Voting by Mail: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)"

"With the 2020 presidential election nearing and a pandemic in full swing, John Oliver discusses why voting by mail is necessary, the fearmongering surrounding it, and why we need to start planning for November right now."

Completely relevant to this topic: "USPS: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)"

Also, every time they showed Tucker Carlson on my computer screen during this video, and for the entirety of the time that he was on screen, my middle finger was raised and pointed at the screen. It's kind of weird, because I didn't even do that with Trump himself, even though Trump definitely deserved it, too.

And, as always, (temporary) alternative links due to asinine region-locking bullshit. (EDIT) And it looks like the second link there already doesn't work, as of the time of this edit, a few minutes after the time of the original post. (/EDIT)

"USPS: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)"

"As the U.S. Postal Service faces financial catastrophe, John Oliver discusses why the service is so important, what brought it to this point, and what we can do to help."

Temporary alternative links. Fuck region-locking. (And at least based on the thumbnails in some of those Dailymotion uploads, the full episode for yesterday apparently additionally discussed all that bullshit about William Barr and Michael Flynn, so there's that, too.)

Trump and the Postal Service

"Trump reportedly said he would reject a bailout package if it included aid to keep the US Postal Service functioning"

At first, I was like "Why the fuck does Trump now hate the Postal Service so much?"

But then, I realized... if the Postal Service dies, that would make mail-in voting impossible, which would increase his chances of being reelected, and he full well knows this, as he has openly admitted it. He claims it's due to voter fraud, but it's really due to the fact that more people would be able to vote more easily, and more people voting means that less people would be voting for Republicans, because Republicans are demonstrably vile, and most (sane) people are aware of this objective fact.

And if they can't win fairly (which they obviously can't), they'll cheat their asses off (which they obviously already have, or else Trump wouldn't have been President to begin with), in this case by doing everything they can to kill the Postal Service, so that people can't mail-in vote, which, as was the case in Wisconsin recently, means that many wouldn't be able to vote at all, especially now in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Trump defends his mail-in ballot after calling vote-by-mail 'corrupt'"

So, just to be clear, Donald Trump, who says mail-in ballots are corrupt and should never be used, voted by mail-in ballot.
