"Hi. Uh oh! In this episode – which we wrote and shot before the current tariff/market troubles – we look at how the U.S. and other nations measure economic success, and how that often doesn't square with our individual experiences of The Economy."

(Yes, I foresee that many future episodes will likely need a "Sorry, but we recorded this video before Trump went and made things even worse" disclaimer in front of it. Even without taking the most recent, even worse bullshit into consideration, though, the above video is still fucking dire.)

So people thought the economy was terrible during Biden's presidency, when it actually wasn't that bad? Gee, I wonder, could that be because Donald Trump and Donald Trump's asinine lickspittles spewed lies about it for four solid years (and, you know, actively torpedoed it during the previous four solid years [thanks in part to COVID and to Trump's abysmally nadiral response to COVID], as a kind of practice run for what they're doing now)? Yes, that is why.

And yeah, none of that really matters that much, because bragging that inflation is going down is, indeed, kind of like bragging that the amount of piss in the soup you serve is going down. Even if you weren't the one who pissed in all the soup to begin with. People are still going to blame you for serving piss-filled soup. And then, you know, maybe reelect the original soup-pisser, so that he can now not only piss in the soup but straight up take a diarrhetic shit in it, too. For some reason.

Or maybe we can switch up the metaphor from piss soup to instead be about a train speeding in the wrong direction, which Biden managed to slow down but not actually stop. A Trump Train, if you will. That works, too. And now, that guy has been put back in the driver's seat, again. Go goddamned figure.

I'll just say it, again (same as Cody says it here). If the economy was "good" under Trump (until he wrecked it), it was thanks to Obama. And if the economy was "bad" under Biden (until he kind of almost sort of fixed it but not really), it was "thanks" to Trump. And if the economy is "good" under Trump II... nah, I can't even finish that, because he hasn't even completed his "first 100 days" yet, and he's already fucking launched a trilithium missile at the economy. I wonder if Trump thinks the Nexus is going to absorb him as a result. Who knows? Trump is a delusional motherwannabe-daughterfucker, after all. In any case, he'll be leaving behind a shattered economy, regardless.

Democrats, generally, are better for the economy than the GQP is. Yet... we keep electing GQP dumbshits to positions of power. Why is that? *shrug* I'unno. I guess because, as Cody says, what the Democrats do is good, but not good enough. And, thus, fickle voters kick them out to give the other side a try, again, even though the other side has been consistently, demonstrably worse, every time. The only thing that has been truly consistent throughout the past 3 or 4 decades or more, though, is that the obscenely rich have gotten obscenely richer and the downtrodden poor have gotten more downtrodden and more poor. Prices continue to creep up and wages continue to remain mostly stagnant. And yeah, there are way more subscription services (and all that other stuff that Cody mentioned) than there used to be. *eye roll, but not really*

People (wrongly) see Trump as the solution to "the bigger picture," even though he clearly has made, clearly is making, and clearly will continue to make everything so very much worse. Because he's a liar and a grifter and a conman and a criminal who only cares about one person, and that person is Donald Trump. And he's also a complete and total fucking dumbass who has absolutely zero clue what the hell he's doing, being coattails-ridden and heavily influenced by vile, disgusting, evil shitsmears on the underwear of humanity who absolutely do know what they're doing, and what they're doing is vile, disgusting, and evil. There's that, too. (And that's not even bringing Putin into the picture, though that, too, is definitely a factor in play here. Very little would tickle Putin's pecker than to see the US economy bottom out as a direct result of the actions taken by his obvious puppet.)

Anyway, yeah, an economy based on all growth, all the time, is completely unsustainable in the long run. But... well, as long as it makes billionaires even richer in the short run... what can the rest of us do about it? *shrug* (Hmm, I wonder when Some More News will do a two-hour episode about Peter Thiel. Assuming they haven't already and I just missed it.)
kane_magus: (Default)

I don't have a "joe rogan" tag... hmm... not sure if even this 1:18:01 episode of Some More News that is explicitly about Joe Rogan is enough for me to bother creating a "joe rogan" tag. I mean, sure I could just plop "joe rogan" down there in the tags list and then have a "joe rogan" tag for the future, in the unlikely off-chance that I ever mention him again, but he's absolutely not worth the effort of finding and back-tagging the very rare few posts from the past in which I may have mentioned the asshat. Eh... okay, I guess I'll throw a new "joe rogan" tag on this post, for what tiny bit that is worth (even just to me, let alone anyone else).

Also, disclaimer: I have never seen anything of Joe Rogan's show myself, other than a few short clips here and there over the years of him saying stupid shit.

Anyway, on with watching the video at 2x playback speed...

...

...all right, not even five minutes in, and there's some transphobia. Off to a good start.

Side bar: "Walmart fires 6'4" cisgender woman threatened by man who thought she was trans"

Wow. So, basically, a man came into a women's bathroom at a Walmart to harass and threaten a cisgender woman, who worked at that Walmart, because he wrongly, stupidly thought she was transgender merely because she happened to be tall, and then the woman was fired from her job at that Walmart after she reported the incident. (Ostensibly because she rEpOrTeD iT tO tHe WrOnG tYpE oF mAnAgEr... what the actual fuck ...so, then, why was the manager she did report it to not also fired for not reporting it up the chain to the, supposedly, "correct" type of manager? Probably because said manager wasn't a tall woman who "looked trans.")

And, of course, this fucking happened in goddamned Florida. That tracks.

And now, onto the COVID disinformation part of the show...

Ah, and there's the racism... hmm, turns out Joe Rogan apparently had very different views back in 2019 or whenever, compared to now...? Gee, I wonder why? Oh, right, it's because of the Trump stuff.

And here comes the Trump-specific stuff (though that's really been an undercurrent of the entire video all along)... Joe Rogan before: "The morons had a king." Joe Rogan now: "He's real." Also, it does indeed seem really weird that Joe Rogan, who apparently hates everything to do with Jeffrey Epstein, had Donald Trump, someone who really appears to have been a close, personal friend of Jeffrey Epstein, as a guest on his show, and apparently never once mentioned Jeffrey Epstein. Go figure.

Joe Rogan didn't like Tim Walz, because Tim Walz was, supposedly, "a liar." Therefore, all in for Trump I guess????? The guy who has spouted literally multiple tens of thousands of documented lies over the past decade????? Okay, Joe Rogan. Okay.

Elon Musk? A genius? The smartest person alive? Okay, Joe Rogan. Okay.

Trump is "an outsider" and "anti-establishment" in the same way that GamerGate was "actually about ethics in video game journalism." Joe Rogan, by supporting Trump, is also no longer "anti-establishment," because Trump, like it or not, is the fucking, goddamned "establishment" now. Thanks, in part, to Joe Rogan, specifically.

Ah, and there comes the anti-abortion sentiment and the homophobia, too. Keep 'em comin', Joe. They're all just beach ball issues with no actual substance or value, amirite? *eye roll*

I'm on the tail end of Gen X, having been born in 1979 (Google/Wikipedia says Gen X was from "1965 to 1980"), and believe you me, I have absolutely not undergone a "right-wing turn." Maybe I'm just an aberration, though. *shrug*

Oh, and we're even getting just a smidge of antisemitism up in here (along with some Nazi propaganda/Hitler apologia), too. The hits just keep on comin', Joe.

So, in conclusion, while Joe Rogan isn't the absolutely worst grifter/con-man/right wing dumbshit that Some More News has done a video about, he's also obviously not the greatest dude in the world, either. I don't know... maybe Joe Rogan could be one of the rare few Trumpanzees that potentially could be shamed into changing his ways by being called a hypocrite, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that. In any case, this video has not convinced me to suddenly start watching the 6000+ hours of The Joe Rogan Experience or whatever the fuck.

(They didn't manage to get through this video without at least some dumb skits involving Katy and Warmbo. Short as they were, they were still present. *sigh*)
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. Donald Trump's relentless executive orders and illegal slashing of federal funding are already hurting Americans, including his own voters."

No Warmbo, no finger puppets, no "evil Katy jumping in via a video call" or whatever, no corn slop dripping from the ceiling, no time travel, no multiple versions of Cody, none of that shit in this video. Just Cody Johnston sitting in front of a camera for an hour and twenty minutes (minus however much time the ad breaks wasted, since I skipped past those, as I always do). The only "bit" in this video was Cody refraining from saying any swear words at all, until the final minute or two of the video.

I wish all SMN videos were like this. (Aside from, perhaps, the no swearing thing, because as he proved by almost breaking that no-swear rule at several points during the video, a lot of the goddamned fucking dumbshit that Trump and Elon and their criminal co-conspirators are currently doing can only be adequately described with the involvement of intense profanity.)

(EDIT) Oh, right, I didn't note it at the time as I was watching the video, but JD Vance was apparently a person who benefited from DEI. How about that. (And, no, that wasn't a JD Vance/Peter Thiel joke.) (/EDIT)

(EDIT 2) Just a reminder that, seriously, Trump has not been in office for even a full fucking month yet. (/EDIT 2)
kane_magus: (Default)

"October 27th, 2024. Before the 2024 election, John Oliver discusses Donald Trump’s promises to carry out mass deportations, what some of his supporters might not realize about the details of those plans, and – shockingly – how Bill O’Reilly still has a show."

Yeah, this is apparently a clip from back in October of last year, even though it was only just uploaded yesterday. That doesn't make it any less relevant now than it was back then. Perhaps even more so, because pretty much every prediction that Mr. Oliver makes in that video for what would happen if Trump became POTUS again is coming true or has already done so.

And yes, Dumbshit Trump, America is "like a garbage can for the world" right now, but not for the reasons you claim, although you are definitely the main reason why that is the case, you stuffy sack of shit. It's very difficult to wrap my head around the fact that this vile puddle of diarrhea in the vague shape of a human has been the fucking President of the goddamned United States of shitlicking America for only a mere two weeks thus far. And we still have four more years to go, everybody.
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. Now that Trump is president... again... we're going to look at how he and his party are always focused on problems that aren't really problems (DEI, immigrants, and censorship) instead of problems that are (climate-enhanced wildfires, oligarchy, and actual censorship)."

One of the comments under the video: "So is this sense of unreality what Germans circa 1933 felt?" I would say... maybe? Probably. The difference is that we should have goddamn known better, this time. Doubly so, given that we've already endured a hellish four years with Trump as the President of the United States of America before the current, likely way more hellish four years still to come of Trump as the President of the United States of America. It's not going to be great, and we're going to be trying to repair the damage caused by 2025-2029, for much, much longer than just those four years, like how we're still trying to repair the damage caused by 2017-2021 even now. Well, some of us are trying to repair the damage, anyway. Too many of us are actively, maliciously trying to cause the world to burn (both figuratively and literally).

So anyway, yeah, this is an almost hour long video pointing out all the finding out that's happening as a result of all the fucking around that happened in November 2024.

Anyway, in conclusion, to hell with Donald Trump forever, as usual.

(Beware: Warmbo is in the video. Not a lot, but still... a little bit of Warmbo goes a very, very long way.)
kane_magus: (Default)
Trump is a lying piece of shit, as usual.

Just remember, though he may be being hailed now by lickspittles with the memory of goldfish as a "savior" for having supposedly "saved" TikTok from this ban, his stupid, hypocritical, corpulent ass was one of the first to want to ban it five or so years ago, and he was the one who got the ball rolling on the whole thing, but then he changed his tune when he realized Biden was going to actually follow through on it. If Biden (or Obama before him) wanted a thing, then Trump must do the opposite of that thing, even if said thing was something that he himself originally came up with. *eye roll*

(Personally, I don't really give a shit one way or another if TikTok gets banned or not, as I don't use it and will never use it, thus if it went away, I would never miss it, but the fact that Trump is using this shit to score cheap political points now, when he was the main one who wanted to ban it before, is just typical Trumpish diarrhea, and his sycophants are lapping it up like it's chocolate, as usual.)

Anyway, it's less than an hour (EST anyway) until January 20, so... merry doomsday, I guess. *shrug + weary sigh*
kane_magus: (Default)
"Far more bird flu damage is inevitable, but the extent of it will be left to the Trump administration and Mother Nature."

It's bad enough that the Biden administration already dropped the ball on this so badly, but... well... I guess we'd better hope that Mother Nature shows mercy on us, because the Trump """""administration""""" sure as shit isn't going to do so, whether that's by incompetence or by malfeasance or by both of those things. Either way, we're probably proper fucked. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. Well, we're doing this again.... I guess. So, let's ask the tough question: are Americans just plain stupid for electing Donald Trump?"

The gist of the above video:
  1. Voters in general = ignorant and gullible and inattentive and very checked out of politics on the whole (because politics, granted, is indeed very fucking banal and insane and enraging), but not necessarily full on stupid, and as such it almost, almost makes sense that more of them voted for the loud, obnoxious, brazen liar/con man/criminal who claims he very definitely has real, true, totally legitimate plans to Fix Everything™ instead of for the establishment bozos who appeared (to ignorant, gullible, inattentive, very checked out eyes) to have been, at best, keeping everything bad or, at worst, actively making everything worse, in large part because the loud, obnoxious, brazen liar/con man/criminal repeatedly, incessantly said they were.
  2. Democrats (specifically Democratic politicians) = very definitely stupid, for myriad reasons.
  3. Liberals (extended from Democrats and distinct from progressives [and mainly referring to vapid talking heads on the ol' boob tube and the not so ol' social media]) = apparently secretly racist, sexist, transphobic, MAGA-lite shitbags all along, who don't have a clue what they're talking about, because now they're apparently trying to blame "special interest groups" (like, you know, immigrants and trans people and Palestinians) instead of their namby pamby, wishy washy, milquetoast, "trying to please everybody but actually pleasing nobody" candidates (e.g. Biden and Harris, see point #2), even though said politicians didn't even really do all the "bad" stuff that the pundits are claiming cost them the election (e.g. "bad" stuff like "caring too much about" immigrants and trans people and Palestinians). Let's just say pants-on-head stupid and leave it at that, I guess.
  4. Republicans (specifically, the vile, self-centered, hypocritical asshats who knew and continue to know that Trump is eminently terrible and have explicitly said so in the past, but who now pretend to adore the taste of Trumpian dingleberries) = vile, self-centered, hypocritical asshats who slurp the shit on Trump's ass hair either out of cowardly fear of reprisal, out of the hope that Trump can directly benefit them at the expense of everyone else, and/or out of petty, hateful revenge for racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, etc. very stupid reasons.
  5. Some More News (both the creators and the fans of the show): could and should and need to do better.
  6. In conclusion: We, all of us, even those who voted for Trump, are almost assuredly about to be properly super fucked by Trump and his incoming administration of utter clowns (with apologies to clowns for the unfair comparison), and we need to be prepared for the consequences of that, despite the fact that this is a thing that was easily predicted and long foreshadowed due to the very words that have come out of the face-anuses of Donald Trump and those who disingenuously support Donald Trump. We're all in this together, whether we like it or not.
kane_magus: (Default)
Bullshit, all of it.

If the war will "end sooner," it will be solely because Putin deigns to pull out, in order to make his puppet, Trump, look stronger, not because Trump is some savant at negotiating and diplomacy. *eye roll + smdh* Putin isn't the least bit scared of Trump or his "policies," but it would be beneficial to him to try to strengthen Trump's reputation (assuming such a thing is possible). Think about it. When Obama was President, Putin stole Crimea. When Biden was President, Putin invaded the rest of Ukraine. But when Trump was President, all Putin did was basically just sit back for a while and accept hugs and kisses and sloppy blowjobs from Trump (not that Trump wasn't already doing all that shit well before he ran for President in 2016, nor did he stop doing it after he lost in 2020). Also, this will let all the Trumpublicans in government and Trumpanzees everywhere else crow about how Trump "succeeded" where Biden "couldn't," which does nothing but help Putin. Of course Biden couldn't, because Biden wasn't a Putin lickspittle the way Trump is. Putin had absolutely no incentive to give a single shit about anything Biden said or wanted. And even if the war ends the very first day Trump takes office and Putin pulls all of his forces entirely out of Ukraine and keeps his hands off of the country for the whole next four years, as soon as it becomes convenient for him to fuck around in Ukraine (or elsewhere) yet again, he will do so. Though if Putin ever decides that Trump is no longer useful to him, he'll do it while Trump is President, puppet or not.

Also, I don't get why Zelensky would trust a single, solitary word to spew out of Trump's chunky face-anus, especially considering all the horseshit that went on the last time Trump was President. Why does Zelensky think that Trump suddenly gives a single flying fuck about Ukraine now? Just because Trump says so? Trump is a pathological liar, and if Zelensky hasn't been paying attention for the last eight years of lying that Trump has done (and Putin knob-slobbering that Trump has done), it's going to bite him hard in the ass, and probably sooner than later.

Oh, and speaking of Trump vis-à-vis Russian assets... whether Tulsi Gabbard is literally a Russian plant or just that fucked up in the head all on her own (which, honestly, could describe Trump himself), what matters is that Trump has, once again, selected someone who is probably the absolute least qualified to lead the department he selected them to lead.
kane_magus: (Default)

"John Oliver discusses Donald Trump's reelection, what happens next, and why the whole thing is – arguably – Katy Perry's fault."

Man, invoking Mister Rogers even for a little bit feels like one of those "break glass in case of emergency" moments. Which, I guess, this whole "Trump got reelected" thing definitely is. If I had to pick one human being who is the absolute polar opposite of anything and everything Mister Rogers, it would be Donald Jackass Trump.

And yeah, this episode is a wee bit behind the times, because Matt Gaetz for Attorney General wasn't even on that pestilential chart of potential Trump picks.

In conclusion, to Donald Trump and to every one who voted for Donald Trump, I just want to give you all a very hearty, "Fuck you quite a lot!"
kane_magus: (Default)
A post on John Scalzi's Whatever.

I agree with pretty much all of it.
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. Former president Donald Trump is bad. He is a criminal, a sex pest, a racist, and a wannabe dictator. He was a bad president and is a bad person. And he might be the president again? Really? Are we.... are we really maybe doing this again?"

kane_magus: (Default)
I'm just going to say it flat out. If the economy was "good" under Trump, it was because of Obama. If the economy was "bad" under Biden, it was because of Trump (and closely Trump-adjacent factors). And if the economy is "good" again under whoever becomes President in 2024[1], it will be because of Biden.

Biden has done probably the best he could do (which, if you ignore the dishonest braying of the GQP, isn't actually too awfully terrible) with the utter shitshow dumped on him by Trump, by COVID (Trump's response to which was utterly abysmal and clearly made things far worse than they ever needed to be), and by Putin deciding to invade Ukraine in the middle of Biden's term. (Which was indeed very likely a partial factor into the timing of it, when it could have happened much earlier, while Trump was POTUS, with Trump's full support, rest of the world be damned. But that would've made Trump look badeven worse, and why would Putin want to directly make his installed flunky look badeven worse than he already looked? Better to make Biden look bad, rather than his own asset, Trump. And the invasion of Ukraine was, in fact, probably the biggest contributor to all the rampant inflation, in the US and elsewhere, that followed, which too many people in the US now ridiculously blame solely on Biden. I'm sure that was just a side benefit for Putin, though.)

TL;DR gist: Trump takes credit for Obama, and Trump blames Biden for Trump's own rancid bullshit. And if Trump, heavens forbid, wins again in 2024, he will, of course, take full credit for Biden.

(EDIT) See also: this. Why do so many people wrongly believe the GQP is better with the economy, again? Oh, right. (/EDIT)

At least, to the extent that any POTUS can directly affect the economy, anyway, which I don't think is actually all that much.

[1] - Hopefully not Trump, naturally.

"All politicians lie, though."

That's the banal platitude you will invariably hear from any Trumpanzees you may have the misfortune of having in your presence if you happen to bring up the demonstrable, undeniable fact that Donald Trump is an irredeemable pathological liar.

And, to a great extent, it's actually true. I mean, the literal answer to the question "Do all politicians lie?" is probably "no," but it really feels like it should be way closer to "yes," doesn't it? Even now, today, fact checkers fact check statements from Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, hell, even Barack Obama, and they sometimes find them lacking in pure honesty. I'm not trying to claim that "my" politicians are as pure as the driven snow, because they're not. (Still, compare it to Donald Trump. [And even then, I think Politifact is grossly erring on the side of giving Trump way the fuck too much credit.])

But here's the thing. (And you knew there was "the thing" that "is" "here," otherwise I wouldn't be making this post.)

In the Precambrian era, back before Donald Trump entered the political scene, untold eons ago, most of the lies from politicians seemed to be of the "of omission" type, or the "exaggeration" type, or the "little white" type, or the "fudging the numbers a bit" type, and such. You know, lies that at least could be plausibly believed by sane people, unless they did a bare minimum of fact checking on the matter. Lies that have the ring of "truthiness" to them. Back in ye olden times, before the uncountable millennia of Trumpism, it was rather rare for a politician to just tell a straight up whopper. And by "whopper," I mean a lie so far away from reality that the light of any star, let alone just the sun, has yet to reach it. A lie so divorced from reality that reality has sole custody of the children as well as a restraining order against the lie. A lie that could not possibly be believed by anyone with a functioning brain cell or two. A lie that doesn't require intense fact checking before it becomes clear that it's a fucking lie. Politicians who told actual whoppers, back in the golden age, would usually be resoundingly castigated by everyone, forever driven from politics on pain of being beaten with sticks (or worse) if they tried to return.

But then...

Along toddled Donald Trump.

Donald Trump entered the chat.

Here came Donny Boob Boob.

Donald Trump took that ill-fated escalator ride. (To be fair and accurate, that wasn't the first time that Trump stuck his malignant toe into the waters of presidential politics, but it was the first time that mattered at all. The first time that he actually managed to infect said waters with whatever disgusting toe fungus he obviously has, metaphorically speaking. Especially since, you know, he actually won that time. Somehow. With obvious help. To the detriment of us all.)

And now...

Now, there is an entire political party that doesn't even blush at telling whopper after whopper after whopper. Whoppers like "Haitian immigrants are eating pets," or like "pedophiles are running a child-trafficking ring out of the basement of a pizza parlor (which doesn't even have a basement)," or like "Democrats want to murder babies after they're born," or like "kids can go to school and come home with a transgender operation," or like the en-fucking-tirety of QAnon, or like "Trump won in 2020." They don't give the slightest shit. And as much as the rest of us would probably sorely love to drive them away from politics forever, with the threat of being stick-beaten if they ever try to return, it hasn't happened yet, sadly and frustratingly.

And there is an entire, gun-toting base of that political party who willingly, militantly, hatefully "believes" those ludicrous lies. It's not necessarily because they think that the lies are actually true, per se. It's that they simply want to believe the lies, actual truth of the matter be damned. They believe the lies because to believe the lies "pwns the libs." They believe the lies because that's what gets their vile asshole politicians voted into office. Or, maybe, they believe the lies simply because they really are that fucking gullible and stupid and ignorant, and they actually do think the lies are literally true. *shrug*

And, of course, there are all the middlemen out there, perpetually stirring the fucking pot.

My point is that, yes, all politicians (probably) do lie. However, it is not the case that all politicians lie equally. One side (i.e. the side that doesn't include Donald Trump) is still telling the "of omission," "exaggeration," "little white," "fudging the numbers" type of plausible lies. The other side (i.e. the side that includes Donald Trump and all of his Trumpanzee lickspittles) has put in a permanent change-of-address to Bizarro World. And even Bizarro World doesn't want them.

Is this the doctrine of relative filth trap fallacy? Maybe. Yes, "my" politicians (e.g. Biden, Harris, Obama, etc.) are dirty, and I don't think they shouldn't be taken to task when they fuck up, intentionally or unintentionally. No, I don't think "my" politicians are even remotely as dirty as those in the Trump camp. Just because "my" politicians probably deserve at least a paddling (with one of those scary paddles with the holes drilled in it for aerodynamic purposes), though, that doesn't mean that Trump and the Trumpublicans (still a terrible band name) don't deserve, at the very least, a full on sustained assault via baseball bat, preferably with rusty nails driven through it. Metaphorically speaking, of course.

"Hi. Let's take a look back at the 2024 Democratic National Convention – what the speakers said, the media reaction, the right-wing grifters who tried to infiltrate it, and what we would have really liked to see."

(Just to get it out of the way, while I'm mostly fine with the [morbid, gallows] humor and all that, I really wish that Some More News would do away with the full on fucking skits. Like, getting rid of anything at all to do with fucking Warmbo would be great, along with all the "evil Katy" stuff. Anyway, this episode doesn't truly start until around 3:30 into the video. Basically, in the video timeline, you can very safely skip the entire section labeled as "Intro," and another five to ten minutes could easily be trimmed out, too, thanks to all the other asinine Warmbo-related and "evil Katy"-related skit shit. [That one little red finger puppet dude with the top hat who had appeared in previous videos and later on in this one is okay, though, I guess. Except that, spoiler alert, Cody apparently killed and ate him in this video. Oh well.])

Annnnnnyway...

Lesson one: Just "vibes" don't make Cody happy. Fair enough.

Lesson two: Take fact checkers with a grain of salt. Who fact checks the fact checkers, after all? Themselves? Not so much.

Lesson three: Yeah, the first third of this video was criticizing the DNC (and, briefly, fact checkers). But the second third of this video was criticizing the rancid, delusional RWNJ response to the DNC. Oh boy! Right wing grifters are stupid assholes! And other tautologies/redundancies! To hell with Charlie Kirk. To hell with... uh... that MyPillow guy, whoever the fuck he is? ("Mike Lindell" apparently? That name seems vaguely familiar, probably from previous SMN videos.) To hell with "Libs of Tiktok." To hell with Matt Walsh. To hell with Jack Posobiec. To hell with Laura Loomer. To hell with Catturd. (Wait, what? Seriously? There is a RWNJ "personality" who goes by the name "Catturd"? What the actual, literal, unvarnished fuck.) To hell with JD Vance. (Remember that douchenozzle?) To hell with Ben Shapiro. To hell with Dinesh D'Souza. To hell with Ann Coulter. Seriously, just an entire smorgasbord of RWNJ dumbshits showcased in this video. To hell with the entire lot of them.

Lesson four: Third third of the video: More bashing on the Democrats, because there are other, real, valid reasons that the DNC still sucks, actually. Not that Trump/Trumpublicans wouldn't still be far, far worse, even on the same issues, of course, as the video fully grants. But even so. "Democrats: At Least We Won't Make Things Worse." US politics, as a whole, is fucking ridiculous, stanky clownshoes.
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. In Part 2 of our Reagan series, we're looking at how Ronald Reagan's presidency altered how both parties think about politics, why it pushed Democrats to the right, and how Reagan's tactics and racist dog whistling paved the way for the rise of Donald Trump."

Follow up to this one.

Wow... Reagan's campaign slogan really was "Let's Make America Great Again." Holy fuck. Well shit, that just makes MAGA even worse, since it's just a blatant, banal ripoff. So... completely par for the course for Dumbshit Jackass Trump, in other words. (If nothing else, it's so nice to be able to say, for the first time in a while, that I'm too young to remember that shit. Still... it feels like that should have been something I would've heard about before now, even so. Huh...)

Oh, and a whole bunch of other really terrible, shitty things were discussed in the above video, too.

On the one hand, sure, this is pretty great, and it's good that the Biden administration is doing it (or going to be doing it, whatever). And I'm certainly not going to say that they shouldn't be doing this.

On the other hand... well, I have criticisms. Two things.

First, this should have been a drum that the Biden administration was pounding on, very loudly and incessantly, from day fucking one. Because Russia demonstrably has been influencing American elections at the very least since 2015. (It's a giant part of why we ended up with SCROTUS IMPOTUS Trump I, after all.) As such, this here feels sorely like a case of far too little, far too late, and I'm not sure how effective, if at all, this effort will be, with just two months to go.

Second, this is kind of like the Biden administration coming out and accusing the sky of a sustained effort of being blue. Everyone knows that Russia is trying to influence the election. The only ones who pretend that they don't are the ones directly benefiting from it, i.e. basically all Trumpanzee voters, Trumpublican politicians, and Trump-mushroom-sucking RWNJ "news" "media" windbags. Expect to hear lots more "RuSsIa rUsSiA RuSSia" bawwing from the usual suspects, of course.

Also, I appreciate the appropriate use of the word "disinformation" in the above linked article.

A post over there on John Scalzi's webblog thing.

Mr. Scalzi's mention of the Supreme Court deciding the 2000 election, though... heavens forbid it reaches that point with this one, given the current broken, busted, corrupt-as-fuck, Trump-stacked Supreme Court, because that would absolutely mean only one thing: SCROTUS IMPOTUS Trump II being crowned on January 20, 2025.

Also, because of this post, I just had to look up "JD Vance ordering donuts." It's disappointing and unimpressive and awkward, just as I hoped it would be.

"Hi. Today, we will teach Jordan Peterson how the GOP turned climate science into a 'debate' with two sides, and show him what we can do to mitigate the worst outcomes. Are you paying attention, Jordan?!"

Follow up to part one, of course.

You know what? By the end of this video, I was starting to think that maybe it wasn't entirely about Jordan Peterson, or even mostly about Jordan Peterson, or even slightly about Jordan Peterson, except for the occasional reminder that Jordan Peterson is, in fact, a person who exists, who also happens to be a stupid fucking idiot and/or a stupid fucking liar.

At least there was no threatpromise of a third part to this series that was specifically and only about Jordan Peterson. I do think there might be more SMN videos on the topic of climate change[1] in the future, though, oddly enough. Weird, that.

[1] - Or "global warming," if you prefer, since it was apparently the Republicans/Conservatives/GQP who mandated the change from talking about "global warming" to talking about "climate change," because "global warming" scares and enrages them (and also because they are dumbshit liars), rather than the Democrats/Liberals/Not Reality Deniers making the change because talking about "global warming" "wasn't working" or whatever dumbshit lies the former have been telling about the latter for the past two or three decades now. Doesn't (much) matter what it's called, though; it's still a thing that definitely exists and is absolutely happening now, regardless.

Oh, I'm sure Trump is at least vaguely familiar with the 25th Amendment, considering how many people were calling for the removal his own stupid ass via the 25th Amendment during some of the more delusional episodes that occurred while Trump was in office. Even though Trump is, of course, lying his obese ass off about it here. It's just yet another example of projection by Trump and his army of Trump-dingleberry-connoisseurs.

Biden had one (ostensibly) bad "performance" at a debate, as those on all sides in government and the media have been ever so quick to repeatedly, incessantly remind everyone (though hardly anyone on either side cares to comment on the deranged, divorced-from-reality performance that Trump himself had during that same debate, of course, which I guess is simply because that's how Trump acts all the goddamned time, and everyone's just so fucking tired of it). Aside from that, however, Biden has been pretty much the same gaffe-prone, mediocre president, after that debate, that he was before the debate. That's not a cause for invoking the fucking 25th Amendment, especially when compared against all the lunatic shit that the GQP allowed Trump to get away with as the POTUS (and even actively cheered on, in most cases).
