"Hi. Donald Trump sure is acting weird about his old friend Jeffrey Epstein, isn't he? Why would he be acting this way? Let's look into that."

And here is the promised episode about Jeffrey Epstein, the wealthy child sex trafficker with connections to powerful and high profile individuals including multiple presidents of the United States.

Man, my middle fingers were already tired from all the times Trump appeared on screen, but when they played those Bill O'Reilly clips from NewsNation where he was trying, in all seriousness, to claim that Epstein was tried and convicted under Biden and the host was like "Slow your roll, dawg, that's complete bullshit" (which, in fact, it was, obviously, because Epstein was convicted and fucking died under SCROTUS IMPOTUS Trump the First), my middle fingers had to go into overtime gesturing at the right side of my computer monitor. Seriously, how does Bill O'Reilly still have a job, at all? And that was around only the halfway point of the video.

"I don't know, it's just that for years people love to say that this time, Trump's base is finally going to turn on him, that this will be the final straw, but it's really hard to believe that when... he's been this way the entire time. Since the very start, he's been so clearly a grifter and a liar. And yet, there's still this chunk of people that seems unable to realize that very, very, very obvious thing about him. He's actually bewitched people. It's infuriating and a little frightening. For most sensible people, we see it. He's this sweaty used car salesman type with a bad fake tan and a long history of failures and lies. And not good lies. Every credible scandal involving him has been deflected simply by saying 'fAkE nEwS!1!1!' like a toddler or calling it a Democrat hoax. Everything is just one big hoax and conspiracy against him specifically. Stuff that existed decades before he was even running for president. And his base just accepted that lazy bullshit with total faith. Either because they like who he angers and hurts, or have completely deluded themselves. Maybe probably both. I don't know. So it really seems like this will just be rolled into the Russia Hoax and Comey stuff and all the other flimsy excuses he has given from the start."

And then I had to throw up the middle fingers again because they played another clip of Trump essentially saying exactly that, that it's just the "Jeffrey Epstein hoax," same as all the other "hoaxes" about him. He's is so (un)believably, banally full of shit that it's just wrath-inducing. The sooner this man is dead and gone, the better this world will be. There's just nothing else that can be said about Trump at this point. He needs to be gone, simple as that. At this point, I don't care how.

"Again, we all really want to think about this as a house of cards that will eventually topple, but I'm not so sure. Considering all the lazy lies he's gotten away with already, it's hard to think that anything will do it, because if Trump's rise has taught us anything, it's that America is a country of conspiracy theorists. We love them. The Internet no doubt made our love even stronger, but we've always been into it. UFOs, moon landing, JFK, X-Files stuff. This fundamental belief that there's some larger and more complex system behind the world around us. It really speaks to people. It makes our lives feel less chaotic. I don't mean to sound all Ricky Gervais, but I imagine it's similar to religion for people. And Trump has directly tapped into the most ravenous conspiracy freaks of them all. And in fact, his political success depends on them.

"See, here's the thing about conspiracy people. They don't really care about policy. They don't care about tariffs or immigration or healthcare. When you think lizard people exist, the nuance of the economy doesn't really thrill you. If you were to ask the more hardcore Dale Gribble type why they would vote for Trump, they're just going to say that it's because he'll expose the deep state. And sure, it's a spectrum. Not everyone is a hardcore conspiracy weirdo, and I bet there are people who are concerned about the deep state and policy. But for so many MAGA supporters, it appears to be extremely important to their identity that there is, in fact, a secret cabal of pedophile Democrats. And only Democrats, mind you. Because if there isn't... then why are they doing everything they're doing? How can you justify cutting off your loved ones, going all in on this one man? All the sacrifices you have to make to support Trump? Even in terms of policy, how do you justify cuts to Medicaid and FEMA and all the ways the country is getting worse, if you can't say well... at least he's going after the deep state? For a right wing conspiracy theorist, there's just too much riding on this. If Trump were to produce a grand list of Democrat pedophiles, if they all got hauled off to jail, then everything would have been worth it. Otherwise, they have spent a decade being continuously laughed at for nothing. All of the failures from the Trump administration would have been for nothing. They would have to contend with the idea that they were, in fact, tricked by a conman, while everyone around them told them they were being tricked by a conman. It is so important to them that this is true, that Democrats, and again, only Democrats, are secret Satan-loving pedophiles who have been running a campaign of hoaxes against Donald Trump, the brave hero single-handedly fighting back. That's the only way you can justify something like storming the Capitol, right?"

And... then Cody went into a long-winded metaphor involving one of the final episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine that was kind of sort of relevant, but also probably didn't make much sense if you hadn't seen the episodes in question. (For what it's worth, at least Dukat had the excuse of being literally possessed by a demonic, god-like, alien entity at that point in the show [not that Dukat wasn't already an irredeemably evil shitbag even before that, pretty much from the start of the show]. What excuse does Donald fucking Trump have in real life?) And then they showed a clip from a completely different two parter (even though Cody said it was a clip from "that" episode that he'd just talked about, which it wasn't), which is also disturbingly, depressingly relevant to current events, despite being released over 30 years ago. Not that those same issues weren't a thing back then, too, as Cody pointed out. It's just that it progressed from then to the logical conclusion now, is all.

Seriously, the entire latter half of this episode of Some More News is way more about the abject stupidity and gullibility of people who believe unfounded, outlandish, ludicrous conspiracy theories (which often are being used to cover up way darker shit) than it is specifically about the Epstein shit. And it's all, mostly, to explain why Donald Trump is almost assuredly going to get away with this, same as how he's so far de facto gotten away with every other vile, evil thing he's ever done in his life.

Oh, and Cody also goes into a long-winded explanation of The X-Files and how it, too, is relevant to this discussion of the Epstein files and conspiracy bullshit in general.

Hmm... maybe that (i.e. Trump's reliance on conspiracy theory culture) is why Trump seems to be starting to turn against his master, Putin. Trump now seems to think that even whatever heinous kompromat that Putin obviously has on Trump no longer holds whatever power that it once did, because even if Putin were to literally distribute the infamous (and almost assuredly completely real) "pee tape," Trump can just wave his hands, say it's an AI Democrat hoax or whatever, and call it a day, knowing with total confidence that his dupes and sycophants will believe what he says over the evidence of their own eyes. And after that, what power would Putin really have over Trump anymore, at that point, despite Trump having had Putin's arm shoved up his asshole, controlling him for the last entire decade, at the very least, until now? I'm not sure what's worse, the fact that Putin obviously did everything in his considerable power to get Trump elected (both times), or that Trump seems to be increasingly biting the hand that fed him up till now? What's the more horrible reality? A completely Putin-manipulated and Putin-sycophantic Trump? Or a completely unhinged and delusional Trump who possibly feels free to do whatever the fuck he wants now, and Putin, his voter base, America as a whole, and the rest of the world be damned?

"The truth is... it's somewhere. Truth good. Truth is... it's over yonder. The truth is... out there. Yeah, yeah, as in, like, it's, like, gone. Like the truth is way out there. We're never getting that back. *aghast, depressed sigh*"

So, that was a 1:12:26 long video that takes all that time to basically say that Trump is, indeed, almost certainly, assuredly a pedophile rapist who shouldn't be POTUS right now, but who will very likely get away with being a pedophile rapist and will remain being the POTUS. It's another one of those "the people willing to watch this already knew that, of course, and the people who really need to watch this and be convinced by this won't watch this or be convinced by this, because they'll just dismiss the whole thing out of hand as LIEbrul BS, because they've been primed and conditioned by the GQP lie-spewing machinery for the past three or four decades to do just that" type things.

Yeah, I want everyone involved in the Epstein shit behind bars (to be charitably merciful). Not just Trump. And certainly not everyone but Trump. My expectation that that will ever actually happen realistically hovers around nil, zilch, nada, and zero.

Anyway, in conclusion, to hell forever with Donald Trump and to everyone who still believes even a single foul lie that spews forth from his lipsface anus on a daily basis, as usual, and to hell with anyone else not named Donald John Trump who was involved in any capacity with Jeffrey Epstein's pedophile island (and who aren't already dead and in hell, either figuratively or literally, like Jeffrey Epstein himself probably).

"Hi. Today we're looking at right-wing lies. But not the banner headline, 'They’re Eating The Dogs'-type lies, but the under-the-radar, insidious lies told by chuds like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Matt Walsh, and Elon Musk."

But... there are so many. And this video is only an hour long?

"...either stupid or a liar..." I mean, to be fair, they can be both. Stupid people can believe that other people are also stupid enough to believe their lies, after all. And in too many cases, those stupid people are actually right about all the other stupid people who do indeed believe their lies.

"John Oliver explains why you've been seeing more AI-generated content online, the harm it can do, and – sadly – why it is threatening his marriage. Do you hear us, cabbage Hulk? Stay the hell away from John's cabbage wife."

That chud claiming that most people don't enjoy the time they spend making music (as an excuse for why his AI music generator is "good")... that alone rated the "middle-finger-worthy" tag.

And I would say that all the people charging dozens to hundreds of dollars to explicitly "teach" others how to make money creating AI slop are even worse than the people creating the AI slop, except that they're the same fucking people. May they all be fucked by a sea urchin (perhaps even the same one).

In any case, it's not just silly bullshit, and it's not "just" artists having their livelihoods stolen, it's actively dangerous, as the bit about the first responders to disasters being distracted by AI dumbfuckery showed.

"And it's pretty fucking galling for the same people who spent the last decade screaming 'fake news' at any headline they didn't like to be confronted with actual fake news and suddenly being extremely open to it."

Also mentioned is the fact that people are starting to distrust real things because it might be deepfake bullshit some AI shat out, even when it actually isn't.

And the liar's dividend. (Something that Donald Trump, for one, has been benefiting from for decades, well before AI slop ever became a thing, but him claiming that real news about his bullshit is AI slop certainly doesn't help.)

"To summarize: AI slop can be somewhat lucrative for its creators, massively lucrative for the platforms that use it to drive engagement, and worryingly corrosive to the general concept of objective reality."

And at the end, spoiler alert, John Oliver unveils a real chainsaw carving, made by the guy mentioned in the video whose real life chainsaw carvings are being illegitimately replicated by AI slop, of the AI slop "purple cabbage man" that John Oliver mercilessly mocked at several points in the above embedded video (and also in the video description).

"Hi. Today we're looking at U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the agency that Donald Trump is using to do his Mass Deportations Now. We look at where they came from, why they're allowed to wear masks, and the movement to stop them from taking over American cities."

A few choice quotes:

"The only gang causing trouble is ICE."

"Kids, the thing you gotta know about post-9/11 America is that almost everyone lost their entire goddamn minds. According to polls, a slim majority of Americans thought it was necessary for some civil liberties to be ceded in order to defeat terrorists. Xenophobia and racism skyrocketed, specifically on the Right. So, we did a Patriot Act, which allowed law enforcement to collect our records and search our homes without notification, so long as they could prove that they 'thought' we were doing a terrorism. Which, at the time, simply meant that you looked Arab or Asian."

"What is ICE? It's just America, bro. It's the institutions we've given unchecked power to over the decades, the end result of the Patriot Act and our broken law enforcement system."

"It seems pretty bad if the system we're all used to is built on the gradual dismantling to civil liberties, because that's the thing: we're used to it. If Trump has any positive talents, it's his ability to make evident that which was already there. He is so grotesque and loud in his terrible goals that, in pushing the limits of his power, he's exposing the seams that everyone ignored. He's the guy who makes the mall security guards realize that, technically, there's no rule against skinny-dipping in the fountain. This is all to say that Trump and ICE are quite horrifyingly working in tandem with a system that most Americans consider functional."

I honestly had never heard of ICE, even though it had existed since the time of Dubya, before Trump started using it as his own personal Gestapo, back during his first """""administration,""""" and I wish I had never heard of it at all (by that I mean I wish it didn't exist at all) now that he's quadrupling down on that Gestapo shit. Oh, and good on Tim Walz, the guy who should be Vice President right now, for saying pretty much the same thing. I didn't know about that until I did a certain Google search just now. He's not wrong, and he's not the only one saying it. ICE == Gestapo. And if the Department of Homeland Security find the comparison "sickening," then fuck them, too. DHS can go piss up a rope.

Anyway, in conclusion, to hell forever with Donald Trump, as usual, and to hell with that Todd asshole, too.

"Hi. What a day for Cody Johnston to have jury duty! On today's episode, Some More News head writer Dave Bell joins Katy and Jonathan to talk about all the angry, petty, childish tweets sent by two people who also happen to be the most powerful person and the richest person on the planet. (Also: Cody shows up for five minutes on his juror lunch break to join in the fun!)"

Good hedge of bets to posit that they might be friends again by the time this video was released. However, fortunately for the rest of us, Trump and Musk are still not friends anymore. Hell, even I didn't know it had gotten quite so bad between these two gargantuan manbabies. But then, I don't have an account on either """""Truth""""" Social or on 卐, so... *shrug*

Here's something that occurred to me as I was watching this (and I kind of expected them to actually mention it, too, but they never did): rather than fighting Mark Zuckerberg, maybe Phony Stark could cage fight Dumbshit Jackass instead? I'd much rather see that fight than any Musk vs Zuck one (as long as it ended in permanently debilitating, possibly fatal injuries for both combatants).

(EDIT) And for all the liberals/Democrats writing "think" pieces about should we accept Musk "back," now that he's on the outs with Trump... hell to the fuck no on that one, good buddy. The Left never "had" Elon to start with. He's always been a shitheel. He just used to do a better job of hiding it. Let his ass twist in the wind. (/EDIT)

Also, guys, you do know you could do an episode specifically about Peter Thiel and Palantir[1], right? You're saying here that "nobody knows who Peter Thiel is" and that "maybe the guy backed by Peter Thiel probably shouldn't have been the vice president" and all that, so... make an episode explicitly about that shit. I mean, you've already mentioned it as asides in several other episodes, but do a whole-ass episode just about that topic. Granted, the eyes and ears that really need to see and hear it would never do so, but still, it's better than just lamenting that "nobody knows who Peter Thiel is."

[1] - Seriously, what is it with right-wing kooks and directly naming their asinine horseshit after easily corruptible and evil magical artifacts from fictional stories? What's next, Trump or Musk or somebody unveiling a literal Torment Nexus? (I mean, Trump just being the president is already a Torment Nexus in its own way, in all but name, but still.)
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. Katy, Cody, and Jonathan are joined by Leah Litman, author of the new book 'Lawless: How the Supreme Court Runs on Conservative Grievance, Fringe Theories, and Bad Vibes.' They discuss how the Supreme Court is making it up as they go and allowing Donald Trump to do pretty much whatever he wants while they maintain a facade of legitimacy."

Before even starting to watch the video: a big part of why that is the case is because three of the six RWNJ justices were explicitly appointed by Trump, during his first reign as SCROTUS IMPOTUS, and (at least) one of the other three pre-existing RWNJ justices was a flagrantly corrupt pile of shit even before Trump came along and is an even bigger corrupt pile of shit now. And, of course, the three non-RWNJ justices are basically irrelevant now, since the RWNJ justices outnumber them (by design), thus making the RWNJ word of the RWNJ majority, literally, the law of the land now (also by design).

Now to actually watch the video.

Okay, right off the bat, why would anyone with even a single working brain cell believe that the Supreme Court are "the heroes who are going to save us from Trump," when they (aside from an extremely rare few noted exceptions) have been doing literally the exact polar opposite of that since even before Trump became the SCROTUS IMPOTUS a second time? Hell, their direct actions and rulings are at least part of why Trump even is the SCROTUS IMPOTUS again.

Yeah, Republicans, hypocritically, have been expressly doing for the past several decades the very thing they've been whinging that Democrats have been trying to do, i.e. politicizing the court system and stacking the courts (not just the SCOTUS) with judges favorable to their RWNJ positions. And Democrats have mostly just been sitting there with their thumbs up their asses, harrumphing about the sanctity of the courts or whatever, and doing little to nothing to stop them.

Also, yeah, the fact that Supreme Court justices are just openly taking a shit ton of bribes now doesn't help, either, and the fact that so very few people seem to care about this is just mind boggling. (But then, look at Trump. He just accepted a bare-ass, glaring bribe in the form of a jet from Qatar, he isn't even trying to make it not look like a bare-ass, glaring bribe, and Trumpanzees seem to be perfectly fine with that, so why should they care about Clarence Thomas or whoever accepting similar, only ever so slightly less bare-ass, glaring bribes? I mean, sure, anyone who isn't a Trump-fart-huffing sycophant is calling it out for what it is, but who cares what we think, anymore?)

Katy makes a good point. Taunting the 700-pound gorilla in the White House and calling him a chicken or a taco or whatever is more likely going to cause the 700-pound gorilla to start smashing things with his giant 700-pound gorilla fists, rather than acting in anything remotely resembling a reasonable human manner.

Oh, they're talking directly about Trump's own acceptance of blatant bribes now. Yeah, well, what I said two paragraphs up remains the same.

I am pessimistic enough to believe that we will never see a moment where die hard Trumpanzees see something that Trump did and say "He did what?! No! He's gone too far this time!" or whatever. They'll simply perform whatever mental gymnastics, same as they always do, that are required to allow them to say that whatever Trump does is always good, actually, and it's all the Democrats' fault, somehow, even up to and including a hypothetical scenario where Trump literally knocks on their door and tells them that their homes are going to be bombed on his orders with them locked inside. I'm only being maybe 51% facetious there.

(Oh, and Dreamwidth seems to be having issues at the moment, because nine times out of ten that I hit the "Preview" button on this post, it just goes to a white page with "Sorry, there was a problem" at the top of it. Hope this post doesn't get eaten when I actually try to post it.)

"Hi. You may have noticed a new crop of influencers like The Nelk Boys and Bryce Hall taking over online spaces. Today we’re looking at who these people are and how MAGA influencers garnered so much... well, influence."

"The extremely partisan and vindictive crime president, looking to wet his thick beak as sloppily as possible, is now lording over every social media platform, which now happens to be one of the primary ways in which Americans get their information, the youth of which specifically following individual influencers, who may or may not be getting paid by political operatives working directly for that president to put out misinformation."

(My only minor quibble with that italicized quote from Cody Johnston there is that he used the world "misinformation" when he clearly should have used "disinformation.")

This is just dystopian shit. All of it.

It's frustrating and sad and horrible and disgusting that MAGA has been around long enough for there to be a "next generation" of anything related to it.

Also, I'd just like to state, yet again, that I loathe the entire concept of "influencers" in general. The only consolation for me is that I'd never heard of any of those "next generation" MAGA assholes, prior to this video. But then, there were a whole lot of mentions in this video of the current/old generation of MAGA assholes, too.
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. In Today's episode of Even More News, Katy, Cody, and Jonathan discuss Joe Biden's cancer revelation. They also discuss Trump's big boy birthday Army parade, FEMA's failures during Disaster season, and MAGA turning on Kash Patel and Dan Bongino."

Joe Biden was a bad president, for myriad reasons.

Joe Biden was also a better president, by many orders of magnitude, than Donald Trump is, ever was, and ever will be.

Both of those statements can be (and are) true. (And really, the second one admittedly isn't saying all that much, because, as I've pointed out a bunch of times, a literal wet sack of dogshit would be a better president than Donald Trump. Joe Biden was better than a literal wet sack of dogshit, at least.)

And yes, dementia and cancer both suck egregious amounts of desiccated, encrusted asshole. Only one of the two mentioned above are human beings upon whom I would wish both cancer and dementia, and it's not the human being who was already recently diagnosed with at least one of those.

Anyway, in conclusion, to hell forever with Donald Trump, as usual. And may he possibly suffer the worst of cancer and dementia in this world before arriving there. Said conditions can afflict even the best of people. Why should Donald Trump, who is the worst of people, be spared?

"Hi. Zeteo's Mehdi Hasan joins Katy, Cody, and Jonathan to discuss interviewing Republicans, Zeteo's new documentary about the murder of Shireen Abu Akleh, Afrikaner 'refugees,' Ms. Rachel, and Trump's corruption tour of the Middle East."

Trump is literally "palling around with terrorists" now. When did we all get dimension-shifted to Bizarro World? And that's just one of several horrors they talked about in this episode. Go figure.

Everyone who is not a Trump anus-sniffer is just so done with all this shit already, and yet, we still have another 3.67 years to go (at best, assuming Trump's handlers don't figure out a way from him to get yet another term).
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. Donald Trump is saying and tweeting some very wild things about the U.S. Constitution, Star Wars, and beautiful baby dolls, so today, Katy, Cody, and Jonathan dig into all the weird stuff he said over the weekend. They also discuss the horrific state of Gaza and ICE's increasing aggression."

Yeah, Donald Trump being depicted with a red lightsaber seems about right.

Also, yeah, who could have possibly predicted that, after Trump became President, things would definitely get worse in Gaza and for anyone in the US who is even remotely expressing concern with how things are going in Gaza?

And holy shit. Wow, okay, this is indeed pretty fucking horrendous: "'We're citizens!': Oklahoma City family traumatized after ICE raids home, but they weren't suspects"

Nuremberg showed us that "just following orders" is not a valid defense for committing war crimes. I hope this eventually bears out for all the rank and file asshats currently committing atrocities (accidentally or intentionally) in the name of Donald Trump[1], as well. But then, it's not as if the latter group will ever actually be held accountable for their heinous bullshit actions in the first place, any more than their fucking God Emperor ever will either[1], so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Seriously, though, at what point can we consider that Donald Trump has finally crossed the line? Does there even still exist a line for him to cross anymore? (I mean, I would say that the line was crossed and left well behind him way back during his first term, and that he should have been [but was not] appropriately punished for it back then, and this second term is just him now sprinting full tilt[2] even farther beyond said line. But what I believe doesn't matter at all, not even a little bit. It will only ever matter if Trumpanzees somehow think he's crossed the line, which seems increasingly unlikely to ever happen, because they're mostly hunky-dory with every fucking vile thing the disgusting shit-for-brains does. Here's to hoping that I am eventually proven wrong on that count and that enough of these people finally do turn against Trump, and against anyone and everyone even remotely within smelling distance of Trump.)

Anyway, in conclusion, to hell forever with Donald Trump, as usual.

[1] - Not that Trump himself will ever be held accountable, mind you. He'll probably be long dead before any serious attempts to do so can ever come to pass. I guess we'll just have to be content with the definite knowledge that he'll be viewed by posterity in a similar way that most (sane) people objectively view monsters like Hitler and Stalin nowadays.

[2] - Figuratively speaking, of course, since we all know it's not physically possible for Donald Junkass Trump to do much more than toddle, let alone "sprint full tilt."

"Hi. Donald Trump celebrated 100 days in office by going on television a lot, so Katy, Cody, and Jonathan spend today's episode reacting to non-tattoos, fentanyl claims, Declarations of Love and Unity, and hats on hats on hats."

Trump... dude... when you've lost Ann Coulter, of all people, you really should just give it the fuck up, man.

Oh, well at least the video ended on a marginally positive note, I guess.

Anyway, in conclusion, to hell forever with Donald Trump and anyone who still supports Donald Trump, as usual.
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. Uh oh! In this episode – which we wrote and shot before the current tariff/market troubles – we look at how the U.S. and other nations measure economic success, and how that often doesn't square with our individual experiences of The Economy."

(Yes, I foresee that many future episodes will likely need a "Sorry, but we recorded this video before Trump went and made things even worse" disclaimer in front of it. Even without taking the most recent, even worse bullshit into consideration, though, the above video is still fucking dire.)

So people thought the economy was terrible during Biden's presidency, when it actually wasn't that bad? Gee, I wonder, could that be because Donald Trump and Donald Trump's asinine lickspittles spewed lies about it for four solid years (and, you know, actively torpedoed it during the previous four solid years [thanks in part to COVID and to Trump's abysmally nadiral response to COVID], as a kind of practice run for what they're doing now)? Yes, that is why.

And yeah, none of that really matters that much, because bragging that inflation is going down is, indeed, kind of like bragging that the amount of piss in the soup you serve is going down. Even if you weren't the one who pissed in all the soup to begin with. People are still going to blame you for serving piss-filled soup. And then, you know, maybe reelect the original soup-pisser, so that he can now not only piss in the soup but straight up take a diarrhetic shit in it, too. For some reason.

Or maybe we can switch up the metaphor from piss soup to instead be about a train speeding in the wrong direction, which Biden managed to slow down but not actually stop. A Trump Train, if you will. That works, too. And now, that guy has been put back in the driver's seat, again. Go goddamned figure.

I'll just say it, again (same as Cody says it here). If the economy was "good" under Trump (until he wrecked it), it was thanks to Obama. And if the economy was "bad" under Biden (until he kind of almost sort of fixed it but not really), it was "thanks" to Trump. And if the economy is "good" under Trump II... nah, I can't even finish that, because he hasn't even completed his "first 100 days" yet, and he's already fucking launched a trilithium missile at the economy. I wonder if Trump thinks the Nexus is going to absorb him as a result. Who knows? Trump is a delusional motherwannabe-daughterfucker, after all. In any case, he'll be leaving behind a shattered economy, regardless.

Democrats, generally, are better for the economy than the GQP is. Yet... we keep electing GQP dumbshits to positions of power. Why is that? *shrug* I'unno. I guess because, as Cody says, what the Democrats do is good, but not good enough. And, thus, fickle voters kick them out to give the other side a try, again, even though the other side has been consistently, demonstrably worse, every time. The only thing that has been truly consistent throughout the past 3 or 4 decades or more, though, is that the obscenely rich have gotten obscenely richer and the downtrodden poor have gotten more downtrodden and more poor. Prices continue to creep up and wages continue to remain mostly stagnant. And yeah, there are way more subscription services (and all that other stuff that Cody mentioned) than there used to be. *eye roll, but not really*

People (wrongly) see Trump as the solution to "the bigger picture," even though he clearly has made, clearly is making, and clearly will continue to make everything so very much worse. Because he's a liar and a grifter and a conman and a criminal who only cares about one person, and that person is Donald Trump. And he's also a complete and total fucking dumbass who has absolutely zero clue what the hell he's doing, being coattails-ridden and heavily influenced by vile, disgusting, evil shitsmears on the underwear of humanity who absolutely do know what they're doing, and what they're doing is vile, disgusting, and evil. There's that, too. (And that's not even bringing Putin into the picture, though that, too, is definitely a factor in play here. Very little would tickle Putin's pecker than to see the US economy bottom out as a direct result of the actions taken by his obvious puppet.)

Anyway, yeah, an economy based on all growth, all the time, is completely unsustainable in the long run. But... well, as long as it makes billionaires even richer in the short run... what can the rest of us do about it? *shrug* (Hmm, I wonder when Some More News will do a two-hour episode about Peter Thiel. Assuming they haven't already and I just missed it.)
kane_magus: (Default)

I don't have a "joe rogan" tag... hmm... not sure if even this 1:18:01 episode of Some More News that is explicitly about Joe Rogan is enough for me to bother creating a "joe rogan" tag. I mean, sure I could just plop "joe rogan" down there in the tags list and then have a "joe rogan" tag for the future, in the unlikely off-chance that I ever mention him again, but he's absolutely not worth the effort of finding and back-tagging the very rare few posts from the past in which I may have mentioned the asshat. Eh... okay, I guess I'll throw a new "joe rogan" tag on this post, for what tiny bit that is worth (even just to me, let alone anyone else).

Also, disclaimer: I have never seen anything of Joe Rogan's show myself, other than a few short clips here and there over the years of him saying stupid shit.

Anyway, on with watching the video at 2x playback speed...

...

...all right, not even five minutes in, and there's some transphobia. Off to a good start.

Side bar: "Walmart fires 6'4" cisgender woman threatened by man who thought she was trans"

Wow. So, basically, a man came into a women's bathroom at a Walmart to harass and threaten a cisgender woman, who worked at that Walmart, because he wrongly, stupidly thought she was transgender merely because she happened to be tall, and then the woman was fired from her job at that Walmart after she reported the incident. (Ostensibly because she rEpOrTeD iT tO tHe WrOnG tYpE oF mAnAgEr... what the actual fuck ...so, then, why was the manager she did report it to not also fired for not reporting it up the chain to the, supposedly, "correct" type of manager? Probably because said manager wasn't a tall woman who "looked trans.")

And, of course, this fucking happened in goddamned Florida. That tracks.

And now, onto the COVID disinformation part of the show...

Ah, and there's the racism... hmm, turns out Joe Rogan apparently had very different views back in 2019 or whenever, compared to now...? Gee, I wonder why? Oh, right, it's because of the Trump stuff.

And here comes the Trump-specific stuff (though that's really been an undercurrent of the entire video all along)... Joe Rogan before: "The morons had a king." Joe Rogan now: "He's real." Also, it does indeed seem really weird that Joe Rogan, who apparently hates everything to do with Jeffrey Epstein, had Donald Trump, someone who really appears to have been a close, personal friend of Jeffrey Epstein, as a guest on his show, and apparently never once mentioned Jeffrey Epstein. Go figure.

Joe Rogan didn't like Tim Walz, because Tim Walz was, supposedly, "a liar." Therefore, all in for Trump I guess????? The guy who has spouted literally multiple tens of thousands of documented lies over the past decade????? Okay, Joe Rogan. Okay.

Elon Musk? A genius? The smartest person alive? Okay, Joe Rogan. Okay.

Trump is "an outsider" and "anti-establishment" in the same way that GamerGate was "actually about ethics in video game journalism." Joe Rogan, by supporting Trump, is also no longer "anti-establishment," because Trump, like it or not, is the fucking, goddamned "establishment" now. Thanks, in part, to Joe Rogan, specifically.

Ah, and there comes the anti-abortion sentiment and the homophobia, too. Keep 'em comin', Joe. They're all just beach ball issues with no actual substance or value, amirite? *eye roll*

I'm on the tail end of Gen X, having been born in 1979 (Google/Wikipedia says Gen X was from "1965 to 1980"), and believe you me, I have absolutely not undergone a "right-wing turn." Maybe I'm just an aberration, though. *shrug*

Oh, and we're even getting just a smidge of antisemitism up in here (along with some Nazi propaganda/Hitler apologia), too. The hits just keep on comin', Joe.

So, in conclusion, while Joe Rogan isn't the absolutely worst grifter/con-man/right wing dumbshit that Some More News has done a video about, he's also obviously not the greatest dude in the world, either. I don't know... maybe Joe Rogan could be one of the rare few Trumpanzees that potentially could be shamed into changing his ways by being called a hypocrite, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that. In any case, this video has not convinced me to suddenly start watching the 6000+ hours of The Joe Rogan Experience or whatever the fuck.

(They didn't manage to get through this video without at least some dumb skits involving Katy and Warmbo. Short as they were, they were still present. *sigh*)

"Hi. Donald Trump's relentless executive orders and illegal slashing of federal funding are already hurting Americans, including his own voters."

No Warmbo, no finger puppets, no "evil Katy jumping in via a video call" or whatever, no corn slop dripping from the ceiling, no time travel, no multiple versions of Cody, none of that shit in this video. Just Cody Johnston sitting in front of a camera for an hour and twenty minutes (minus however much time the ad breaks wasted, since I skipped past those, as I always do). The only "bit" in this video was Cody refraining from saying any swear words at all, until the final minute or two of the video.

I wish all SMN videos were like this. (Aside from, perhaps, the no swearing thing, because as he proved by almost breaking that no-swear rule at several points during the video, a lot of the goddamned fucking dumbshit that Trump and Elon and their criminal co-conspirators are currently doing can only be adequately described with the involvement of intense profanity.)

(EDIT) Oh, right, I didn't note it at the time as I was watching the video, but JD Vance was apparently a person who benefited from DEI. How about that. (And, no, that wasn't a JD Vance/Peter Thiel joke.) (/EDIT)

(EDIT 2) Just a reminder that, seriously, Trump has not been in office for even a full fucking month yet. (/EDIT 2)

"October 27th, 2024. Before the 2024 election, John Oliver discusses Donald Trump’s promises to carry out mass deportations, what some of his supporters might not realize about the details of those plans, and – shockingly – how Bill O’Reilly still has a show."

Yeah, this is apparently a clip from back in October of last year, even though it was only just uploaded yesterday. That doesn't make it any less relevant now than it was back then. Perhaps even more so, because pretty much every prediction that Mr. Oliver makes in that video for what would happen if Trump became POTUS again is coming true or has already done so.

And yes, Dumbshit Trump, America is "like a garbage can for the world" right now, but not for the reasons you claim, although you are definitely the main reason why that is the case, you stuffy sack of shit. It's very difficult to wrap my head around the fact that this vile puddle of diarrhea in the vague shape of a human has been the fucking President of the goddamned United States of shitlicking America for only a mere two weeks thus far. And we still have four more years to go, everybody.
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. Now that Trump is president... again... we're going to look at how he and his party are always focused on problems that aren't really problems (DEI, immigrants, and censorship) instead of problems that are (climate-enhanced wildfires, oligarchy, and actual censorship)."

One of the comments under the video: "So is this sense of unreality what Germans circa 1933 felt?" I would say... maybe? Probably. The difference is that we should have goddamn known better, this time. Doubly so, given that we've already endured a hellish four years with Trump as the President of the United States of America before the current, likely way more hellish four years still to come of Trump as the President of the United States of America. It's not going to be great, and we're going to be trying to repair the damage caused by 2025-2029, for much, much longer than just those four years, like how we're still trying to repair the damage caused by 2017-2021 even now. Well, some of us are trying to repair the damage, anyway. Too many of us are actively, maliciously trying to cause the world to burn (both figuratively and literally).

So anyway, yeah, this is an almost hour long video pointing out all the finding out that's happening as a result of all the fucking around that happened in November 2024.

Anyway, in conclusion, to hell with Donald Trump forever, as usual.

(Beware: Warmbo is in the video. Not a lot, but still... a little bit of Warmbo goes a very, very long way.)

Trump is a lying piece of shit, as usual.

Just remember, though he may be being hailed now by lickspittles with the memory of goldfish as a "savior" for having supposedly "saved" TikTok from this ban, his stupid, hypocritical, corpulent ass was one of the first to want to ban it five or so years ago, and he was the one who got the ball rolling on the whole thing, but then he changed his tune when he realized Biden was going to actually follow through on it. If Biden (or Obama before him) wanted a thing, then Trump must do the opposite of that thing, even if said thing was something that he himself originally came up with. *eye roll*

(Personally, I don't really give a shit one way or another if TikTok gets banned or not, as I don't use it and will never use it, thus if it went away, I would never miss it, but the fact that Trump is using this shit to score cheap political points now, when he was the main one who wanted to ban it before, is just typical Trumpish diarrhea, and his sycophants are lapping it up like it's chocolate, as usual.)

Anyway, it's less than an hour (EST anyway) until January 20, so... merry doomsday, I guess. *shrug + weary sigh*

"Far more bird flu damage is inevitable, but the extent of it will be left to the Trump administration and Mother Nature."

It's bad enough that the Biden administration already dropped the ball on this so badly, but... well... I guess we'd better hope that Mother Nature shows mercy on us, because the Trump """""administration""""" sure as shit isn't going to do so, whether that's by incompetence or by malfeasance or by both of those things. Either way, we're probably proper fucked. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"Hi. Well, we're doing this again.... I guess. So, let's ask the tough question: are Americans just plain stupid for electing Donald Trump?"

The gist of the above video:
  1. Voters in general = ignorant and gullible and inattentive and very checked out of politics on the whole (because politics, granted, is indeed very fucking banal and insane and enraging), but not necessarily full on stupid, and as such it almost, almost makes sense that more of them voted for the loud, obnoxious, brazen liar/con man/criminal who claims he very definitely has real, true, totally legitimate plans to Fix Everything™ instead of for the establishment bozos who appeared (to ignorant, gullible, inattentive, very checked out eyes) to have been, at best, keeping everything bad or, at worst, actively making everything worse, in large part because the loud, obnoxious, brazen liar/con man/criminal repeatedly, incessantly said they were.
  2. Democrats (specifically Democratic politicians) = very definitely stupid, for myriad reasons.
  3. Liberals (extended from Democrats and distinct from progressives [and mainly referring to vapid talking heads on the ol' boob tube and the not so ol' social media]) = apparently secretly racist, sexist, transphobic, MAGA-lite shitbags all along, who don't have a clue what they're talking about, because now they're apparently trying to blame "special interest groups" (like, you know, immigrants and trans people and Palestinians) instead of their namby pamby, wishy washy, milquetoast, "trying to please everybody but actually pleasing nobody" candidates (e.g. Biden and Harris, see point #2), even though said politicians didn't even really do all the "bad" stuff that the pundits are claiming cost them the election (e.g. "bad" stuff like "caring too much about" immigrants and trans people and Palestinians). Let's just say pants-on-head stupid and leave it at that, I guess.
  4. Republicans (specifically, the vile, self-centered, hypocritical asshats who knew and continue to know that Trump is eminently terrible and have explicitly said so in the past, but who now pretend to adore the taste of Trumpian dingleberries) = vile, self-centered, hypocritical asshats who slurp the shit on Trump's ass hair either out of cowardly fear of reprisal, out of the hope that Trump can directly benefit them at the expense of everyone else, and/or out of petty, hateful revenge for racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, etc. very stupid reasons.
  5. Some More News (both the creators and the fans of the show): could and should and need to do better.
  6. In conclusion: We, all of us, even those who voted for Trump, are almost assuredly about to be properly super fucked by Trump and his incoming administration of utter clowns (with apologies to clowns for the unfair comparison), and we need to be prepared for the consequences of that, despite the fact that this is a thing that was easily predicted and long foreshadowed due to the very words that have come out of the face-anuses of Donald Trump and those who disingenuously support Donald Trump. We're all in this together, whether we like it or not.
