Two of these and one of these. Expected to ship on Dec 28th and expected to arrive between, like, January 5 and January 12 or some shit. In other words, it'll be around two weeks before it all gets here. Since the converter thing had a latter delivery window than the SSDs themselves. But it may come earlier, of course. I've often had stuff arrive earlier than the delivery estimate. In any case, I hope my computer holds out until then, however long it is.

Date: 2020-12-28 04:34 pm (UTC)From:I want a new computer for every day non-game stuff that I'd do on Linux. IE: coding for the atari 7800 (emulators and compilers are available for linux to allow me to do that), listen to music, browse the web/do email/etc.
And one for gaming which would essentially need to be a windows computer thanks to the game industry flocking behind windows. I'd also need it for any dev tools that will only work under windows.
My current windows pc is strong enough for weaker/older games that don't try to push the hardware. That generally means most things that are indie in nature and non-3d. Most 3d stuff will run at like 10 frames per second or less. Definitely not enough.
Perhaps I'll try to put some cash into my savings account each pay and try my hardest to not touch that savings account. Perhaps by next Christmas I'll have enough to get at least one of the new comps.
