Looks like my stuff is supposed to be delivered today ("by 9:00pm"), but the most recent updates (via both the UPS tracking and the USPS tracking websites), says it's still sitting in New Jersey. The most recent UPS tracking update, from December 31, says "12/31/2020 4:25 A.M. - Avenel, NJ, United States - Package transferred to destination UPS Mail Innovations facility," and the most recent USPS tracking update, from December 30, just says "December 30, 2020, 12:59 am - Arrived Shipping Partner Facility, USPS Awaiting Item - AVENEL, NJ 07001 - Shipping Partner: UPS MAIL INNOVATIONS - Your item arrived at a shipping partner facility at 12:59 am on December 30, 2020 in AVENEL, NJ 07001. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date."

So, as such, I have absolutely no idea where my shit is or when (or if) I'll actually get it. *weary goddamn sigh*

(Huh... interesting that I already have a ups sucks tag.)

(EDIT)

I should note, too, that the other part of my order (which NewEgg split into two separate orders, for whatever reason), was shipped via FedEx, not UPS or USPS, and it was delivered at my sister's place of work on December 31 at 10:05am. That, however, was merely the converter thing. The delivery that is griping my ass now, the one that was shipped via UPS, is the one with the actual SSD drives themselves.

I note, also, that I do not have a similar "fedex sucks" tag.

Granted, both UPS and USPS have some blah blah blah on their tracking sites about how COVID-19 is fucking everything up so there may be delays yadda yadda yadda, so I'm not too awfully butt-griped about this, or at least not as much as I'd likely otherwise be.

UPS sucks.

They tried to deliver the PS3 today but I wasn't there to pick it up so they left a note. No big deal. I was expecting that, so I had a co-worker drop me off at my condo during lunch so I could grab the thing off of the door and then call them later and tell them to hold it for pickup.

Just got the call back from them. It won't be available for pickup until 7:00pm ("maybe 6:45 at the earliest" according to the guy on the phone). *weary sigh* Guess I'll be lollygagging at work between 5:00 and 6:30 or so, since there's no point to me going home, given that where I work now is just a few blocks away from the UPS hub (and the Bear Creek Park & Ride, so I can just catch a bus home afterward, rather than walking a mile and a half carrying the thing). This would have worked out fine if I could have simply left work at 5:00pm, hopped over to the UPS hub and grabbed the package, skipped over to the Park and Ride, and then jumped on a bus... but no. UPS simply has to suck, I guess. Now I probably won't be home until 7:30-8:00pm or later, depending on how big a line there may be at the UPS hub and on how slow they are at getting me my stuff and on how soon after all of that I'll be able to catch a bus.

The last time I called them and had them hold something, it was available for pickup pretty much as soon as they called me back around 20 or so minutes later. Of course, the last time, I didn't actually call them until after 5:30pm or so, which was when I got home from work.

Seriously, Amazon, when I order something via Super Saver Shipping, why do you sometimes send it via UPS anyway? If you sent it via the Postal Service, which is what I expect you to do when I use the Super Saver Shipping, it would take a little longer (which wouldn't be so annoying since I would be expecting it to do so), but at least USPS would usually just deliver it, rather than all this crap with leaving notices and wasting time and such.

UPS sucks.

I hate UPS so much.

Pretty much the exact same situation as before. Driver refuses to even let me sign the damned InfoNotice thing, so now I have to call them up and try to set something up.

I've been trying to avoid ordering things in such a way that they could be potentially shipped via UPS (e.g. the cheaper but slower Super Saver Shipping thing, which just uses USPS, who has no problem with leaving stuff), because UPS has become a gargantuan headache. Amazon caught me off-guard with it this time, though, and shipped it via UPS anyway. *heavy sigh*

(EDIT)

Okay, it ended up not being too bad, though it was still moderately inconvenient and rather irritating. I just called robo-voice girl and told her to "hold for pickup". She said then that someone would be calling me within the hour to set things up, since I could still get it today. Around 10-15 minutes later, someone called and told me it was ready. After that it was a walk down to Redmond Transit Center, a short bus ride over to Bear Creek P&R, then about a 1/3 mile walk to the UPS place, then back to Bear Creek, then back to Redmond, and finally back here.

I think if Amazon ever slips one by me again like this and ships something via UPS, I'm just going to do this again. If anything, I'm actually getting my stuff faster than I would have had I actually been able to sign the InfoNotice thing and then wait until tomorrow for it to be delivered, so that's a net positive that came of the hassle in one sense at least.

This happened again today. Seems like it's an Issue with UPS rather than Amazon.

I called them, same as before, except that this time, instead of dealing with the retarded computerized thing again, I hit 0 to have it connect me to an actual human.

All in all, this has been a much larger pain in the ass than it needs to have been.

Similarly, I think that completely automated and computerized telephone-based "customer service" systems are only ever so slightly less utterly useless. No matter how perky and frou-frou'd up they may be designed to sound.
