Oblivion highlight of the day...
Mar. 23rd, 2006 03:06 amI might start doing something like this every day or so, depending on if anything noteworthy happened in the game (and assuming I got to play Oblivion that day... frickin' CS250 *grumble*), I dunno.
Anyway, I was walking along the road from the Imperial City to Weynon Priory, minding my own business, when I was accosted from behind by a highwayman who demanded money from me. I told him to piss off, and we started to fight. However, before I'd swung my sword more than a time or two, another guy on a horse suddenly rode up from the direction I had come. When he jumped off of his horse, I was all like great, now I'm going to get my ass kicked here. Turned out it was a random soldier from the Imperial Legion. He proceeded to beat the shit out of the highwayman, and then, after we chatted a bit about random unrelated things, he just walked back to his horse and rode off like nothing happened. I'm pretty certain it wasn't a scripted event, aside from the initial highwayman dialog, and that it was just coincidence that an Imperial Legion guy happened along on his horse. Just doing his job and out patrolling or something, I guess.
I'm kind of wondering though, in a "real world" sense rather than a game sense, how he would have known to immediately attack the other guy instead of me. For all he knew, I could have been the robber and the other guy the victim. I mean, that's how it would have ended up anyway, with the other guy dead and me taking his stuff, even if the Legion soldier hadn't shown up when he did. :p
