Sort of like vomiting up a corrosive poison or something. (Figuratively speaking, of course.)

The only one that has survived the purge is this one, and only because it partially explains this one.

The purge has also been extended to comments that I have made to posts in other journals on my flist about political topics. Sorry about screwing up your comment flow or whatever. I may continue to read such posts in the future, but just know that I won't be commenting on them anymore (nor will I likely be reading others' comments to them either, for various reasons). I'm quiting this cold turkey, from this point forward.

As of 3-16-2010, my self-imposed moratorium on political posts has been reinstated, and the purge enacted a second time. I'd fallen off the wagon shortly after the original purge above and started posting angry political crap again, but this time I hope it sticks.

Similarly, I've decided to stop going to POE News as well, as these things are not coincidental.

As of around July 2010, or so, I have been gradually lifting this self-imposed ban on talking about politics. Hopefully, this won't come to be a mistake, thus requiring yet another purge. On the one hand, I'm still a bit leery about being too gung-ho fired up about this sort of thing, for fear of coming off looking just as bad as the people that I tend to end up ridiculing, but on the other hand, I'm coming more and more to the conclusion that I should just say what I think and feel, and if that pisses people off, oh well. I'll try my level best to keep it all civil, but we'll see how it goes, I guess.

As of November 12, 2010, the purge has been reinstated yet again, after a fashion. Instead of flat out deleting them this time, I have simply set most of the more inflammatory ones to "Just Me (Private)". Hopefully this means that nobody outside of me (and LJ staff and anyone who may happen to steal my password at some point) will be able to see them. This pseudo-purge has also been extended to the posts with the "religion" tag as well, though in many cases those were the same posts as the "politics" ones.

It was getting ugly again, so I've decided to once again proceed to ignore politics altogether in the hopes that it will get tired and go away. *nods sagely*

This is a pretty interesting site. It's a collection of, well, letters of note. From the About section on the site: "Letters of Note is an attempt to gather and sort fascinating letters, postcards, telegrams, faxes, and even emails."
