(I said I wasn't going to post about it, but eh... below are my final thoughts on the matter. *shrug*)

So, it's official, then.

And here is Notch's excuse for the whole thing. Kitchen got too hot so he had to bail, taking his ball and whatever portion of that $2,500,000,000 that is his with him.

I can't predict the future, but at this point in time, I figure that this will probably be the last time I talk about Minecraft at all. I doubt I'll ever play it again. And after all this, I don't much care about the behind the scenes stuff anymore, either. I've already removed the Mojang site and Notch's site from feedly, so aside from whatever PC Gamer and RPS may happen to say about them, I won't know or care, and even then, I'll probably just skim over such articles in my feed without actually clicking on them from now on.

Mojang is merely the latest in a long line of small developers that got bought by a big money publisher. The only differences in this case are that it was Microsoft instead of EA and the fact that Mojang apparently sought out the deal themselves rather than Microsoft approaching them first. Everything was coming up roses for Mojang... until they got bought by Microsoft. The end result will be the same, regardless, mark my words.
