I'm halfway tempted to change the System/Registered Owner field on my computer to something like "Spoopy Farts," so that the next time I play a game that tries to be all clever by reading that and using it in-game, it'll have to refer to "Spoopy Farts" or whatever, instead of my actual name. ¬_¬

Anyway, this game is in the same sort of genre as The Stanley Parable or The Beginner's Guide, if you've ever played those. If not, just think of it as a sort of weird stream of conscious game, on the part of the developer.

Oh, and unlike those other two, When the Darkness comes is free.

Copy/paste from FB:

Just got a robocall on the house phone. I'm too incensed to recall the exact wording, but it was something along the lines of "Democrats have successfully tainted our election process." And "They spent millions of dollars investigating Donald Trump, but no collusion was found. They still won't give up, though." And "They're trying the same tactics again." And "We need you to..." and that was around the point when I activated the phone receiver just long enough to then immediately hang up on the stupid, lying shitstain, and then deleted the message. They never identified themselves prior to launching into their asinine, disinformational spiel (though, to be fair, I didn't allow them to finish their horseshit to see if they'd identify themselves at the end).

This shit, right here, in my opinion, is way worse than Faux Noise and Bratbarf and DisinfoWars and such shit. For those useless pieces of shit, at the very least, you have to actively seek them out in order to be polluted by them (with the possible exception, perhaps, of being bombarded by them via dumbfucks on your social media f-lists who may be posting them ad nauseam). But this here? This you have to listen to whether you want to our not, unless you just disable your answering machines/voicemail entirely. To hell forever with these deceitful, encroaching motherfuckers.

I swear, if I had the unique superpower to anonymously murder people and destroy computer equipment via telephone signals, there'd be a whole lot more dead asshats and smoking electronics in this world these days. It'd be sort of like a telephonic Death Note or something. ¬_¬

(EDIT) I was sorely tempted to make a "right-wing asshattery" tag and then go and back-tag all relevant posts... but then, I realized that such a tag would match almost exactly with the already existing politics tag, so... meh. (/EDIT)

"Gaming Disorder has been recognized as a mental illness by the World Health Organization."

As soon as I started watching this, I was waiting to see if they'd ask a certain question, and sure enough Ian did. I'd like to know that, too. Why are video games singled out? Not just "sports addiction" or whatever, which Ian threw out as just one example and Pat seemed to latch onto. (By the way, Pat, given that there are dozens of sports channels available on cable, people absolutely could watch sports 24/7 if they wanted to, so it's not just a "certain times" limited thing.) So yeah. Is there a "book-reading disorder"? "Movie-watching disorder"? "Television-watching disorder"? "Music-listening disorder"? "Car-tinkering disorder"? "Politics-following disorder?" (Or, similarly, "24-hour 'news'-watching disorder"?) Or indeed, "model-boat-building disorder"? Is there a "<Insert any other hobby that isn't playing video games here> disorder"? People can, and do, obsess over those things just as much as others do with video games. For that matter, the people who play games all day on Twitch or Youtube, who make a living doing it, are they also suffering from "gaming disorder"? Are (fak)e-sports "athletes" suffering from "gaming disorder"? To me, the emphasis/focus/exclusivity of "gaming disorder" seems a bit too much like the typical, banal "video games as bogeyman" bullshit we've been seeing for decades. I'm not going to say that "gaming disorder" can't possibly be a thing that may affect some people, but I think maybe there needs to be more thought put into it.
