Seriously...
Aug. 11th, 2019 08:43 pmI know I've said this before, but I truly don't understand people who get all butthurt because their underwear is all twisted up over the idea of someone "cheating" in a goddamn singleplayer game. I really don't get A) why they care or B) why they mistakenly think that it's any of their fucking business, even if they do care, for whatever asinine reasons.
While playing Skyrim, I was getting annoyed that the enchantment table doesn't remember your settings the same way that the alchemy table does. Basically, unlike the alchemy table, which remembers what ingredients you select and lets you create multiple potions in a row using those same ingredients, the enchanting table forgets and empties out every setting (i.e. item to be enchanted, enchantment to use, and power of soul gem to use) after each individual enchantment. So if you want to, for example, enchant a bunch of gold rings with fortify sneak enchantment with a greater soul gem, you have to select the ring from a menu, select the enchantment from a menu, and select the soul gem from a menu, then press the craft button, and select "Yes," and then do all of that all over again, for each and every individual instance of enchantment, which is tedious and boring. If it remembered your settings, you'd only have to repeatedly press the craft button then "Yes," over and over, which is still kind of boring (and is similar to how it works with alchemy and smithing) but is better than how the enchantment table forgets and forces you to reselect everything every time.
So I was looking on Google to see if there was anything that could be done about it. I found an old thread on Steam from 2012 (which has replies as recently as this year, 2019) where someone was looking for a mod or something that would do the job. The thread was filled with a bunch of holier-than-thou shitheads who were all like "Hurr, if you want it that easy why don't you just use the console to give yourself 100 levels Enchanting skill, durr. Do you want the game to play itself, herpderp? Stop trying to cheat and play the game the way it was intended, derpitydurrr."
First of all, what this guy wanted was not cheating. Second of all, even if the guy had literally asked for a mod that just gave him 100 skill in enchanting with a button press, again, who the fuck cares? If he wants that, and there is a mod that does that, tell him and be done with it. Or if you don't know, just remain silent. Otherwise, fuck off with all the pissy "Waaah, I don't like it when people don't play video games the exact same way I play them, baaaawwww" bullshit.
Beyond that, whether it's game related or just in general, I hate it when someone asks a question about "How do I <insert thing here>?" and instead of just fucking answering the question, people respond with "Why do you want to do that?" Who fucking cares why? Just answer the question or shut the fucking hell up. This sort of thing comes up far too often, I find, on any of those Q-and-A, advice-seeking sites.
