AI to video game comparison
May. 16th, 2023 03:02 amLet's say that ELIZA is the equivalent to Pong (very broadly speaking, in just a "historical timeline" sense).
Then I would say that recent LLM/AI models (within the past year or two, e.g. AI Dungeon, NovelAI, or Character.AI) are maybe around the equivalent to something like Pac-Man, Galaga, or Dig Dug, if even that far along. With GPT-4 and similar models, we might be finally starting to dip a toe into Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, or Metroid waters (and even that may be pushing it).
I hope I live to see the day of advanced LLM/AI models the equivalent of Skyrim or Disco Elysium or Tears of the Kingdom or <insert your favorite contemporary games here>. Hell, I'd be okay with the LLM/AI equivalent of Super Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time... or even "just" Super Mario World or Link to the Past, for that matter.
