I actually bought this game back in November, but only now have I actually taken the time to play it. I started it this past weekend and finished it for the first time earlier today. It starts off a bit slowly (which is why I didn't really try to play it until now), but once the story kicks into high gear it gets to be pretty cool, especially when the twists start piling on about halfway through. With that last bit said, though, the story is nowhere near as convoluted as the one from MGS2 (a good thing, to be sure), though there are some tie-ins to earlier games. It makes me want to play the pre-Solid games now, since I haven't actually had a chance to play those yet. The biggest twist for me was the one that came during the traditional MGS after-credits telephone call(s). I'll just say that Ocelot is officially The Man and leave it at that.
Oh, and The Sorrow rocks too, even if you don't see much of him through the game (make sure to hit R1 during cutscenes). The one bit where he really gets to shine is very creepy, very Silent Hill-ish almost, and I do love me some Silent Hill (1-3 at least).
(...that reminds me, I should probably restart and finish Silent Hill 4 at some point, too.)
