Can I get a big "no shit, Sherlock" on this one? Of course Microsoft isn't going to play nice and continue to support an old OS when they can do shit like this to try to force the new one on everyone. Fortunately, I don't care much at all about modern games anymore, so DirectX 12 will likely continue to be irrelevant to me for a long while yet.

I wonder if Microsoft would work at fighting the various problems in the gaming industry that increasingly turn off modern gamers if enough of them were getting turned off such that they stopped being quick to upgrade OSes just for Direct X (Thus making it a lot harder for Microsoft to force new OSes on people as gamers tend to be the first batch to upgrade.)

Would be an unlikely and rather ironic ally for gamers I think, given that Microsoft more or less directly lead the charge into today's world of buggy games and paid DLC. (Infecting the Console market with the original Xbox for buggy releases, and popularizing paid DLC there at the same time, which then went back to the PC market once publishers started to figure out how to do their own Walled Gardens models.)
