Yep, that is indeed how the Land of the Free Market and Home of the Assholes Who Pretty Much Know That They Can Get Away With This Shit Because They Already Can And Do is.
I have no idea what it would take to get North America to finally shape up and fall in line with the rest of the civilized world about this, but whatever that thing is, it can't happen soon enough for my tastes. I fear the thing it will take is something like people abandoning Big Cable™ in droves, which I fear specifically because that thing is something that will almost assuredly never actually happen, at least not in our lifetimes.
