Warning, do not read further if stories about snakes inside of houses and stories about dreams about snakes inside of houses creep you out.

Still here? Okay. On we go.

So, this morning, Ma and I were about to head out the door to go to town for groceries and such. I asked her if she had her library books that needed to be returned by today. She said no and told me to go get them from her bedroom. As I went in there, I almost stepped on a black snake that was just sitting there in the middle of the floor, next to the end of her bed, about halfway between my bedroom and the bathroom. Both of us had gone through there several times this morning, and the snake hadn't been there until then, at least not out in the open where we could see it. I went back out and told Ma about the snake. Between the two of us, with me using the "bank blade" or "kaiser blade" or whatever the thing is actually called (we've just always called it a swing blade or sling blade or whatever) and Ma with a flat-blade shovel, we finally managed to kill it and get it out of the house. It wasn't in a very pretty state after we were done with it. I kind of wish that we could have gotten it out without killing it, since it was just a black snake, but I'm no snake wrangler and the thing was already about to make its escape, so we had to act quickly. Anyway, the snake is gone now, and any others that might probably still be in there have the sense to stay hidden which this one apparently lacked.

Now, here is another interesting related tidbit. I am going to excerpt a bit from the pencil-and-paper journal that I've been keeping since last year, from the entry dated May 11, 2015, aka last Monday (edited a bit for clarity, since I'd just woken up when I originally wrote it, and also since I never, ever use line breaks or paragraph indents in the actual pencil-and-paper journal itself for whatever weird reason that even I don't really understand):

-----

"Get ready for another full page or two of writing about dreams I had last night. First of all, I'm not sure if the crazy dreams caused the queasy, upset stomach or if it was the other way around. Okay, so the first dream. I and some other people (I think Ma and Jamie were there, among others) were in Ma's bedroom. Also, there was a huge, crazy, multiheaded snake/dragon thing, which was more like a bunch of separate snakes attached near the tips of their tails. It was, like, the king of snakes or something. And after a big, huge, epic fight, we killed this thing.

"Which, as it turned out, led to an even worse situation. Once the snake king was dead, we somehow knew we needed to get out of there because, apparently, killing the snake king woke up a bunch of other snakes and snake monsters, all of which were now spewing out of a hole in the ground a few miles away and were heading our way. We went outside and made preparations to get in vehicles to flee. I turned and looked in the direction the snakes were coming from.

"After I woke up, the situation of looking at the snakes coming reminded me of a scene in the computer game Exmortis 2, near the beginning, when you're standing next to a farmhouse watching dark clouds in the far distance, which were the approaching Exmortis. You're supposed to get in a car and drive away, but if you just stand there, the cloud gets closer and darker and, eventually, the Exmortis arrive and kill you. That is what the end of the snake king dream reminded me of, though I woke up before it got that far.

"I just hope that this dream wasn't an omen of finding a(nother) snake in Ma's room IRL, because we did find one in there once, many years ago when I was a kid, though it was just a mostly harmless black snake."

So...

...yeah. Make of that what you will. >_>;

My opinion of snakes like that, same as with big spiders and such, is that they can generally do whatever they want, eat bugs and mice and whatnot... just so long as they stay out of my field of awareness. Once they make their presence known to me, however, at least if they are inside the house, then that is their downfall. After that, they gotta go, more's the pity for them, I guess. ¬_¬ That's assuming they don't manage to escape back into hiding, though, of course. This one didn't, at least.

So, to reiterate: Snake dream happened on Monday, May 11, 2015. The finding of an actual snake in real life happened today, Saturday, May 16, 2015. Again, make of that what you will, if anything.

For reference: bank blade or kaiser blade, also apparently called a brush hook. Apparently, there were a couple of movies made about the thing (which I have not seen), which was the first stuff I found when I did a Google image search for "sling blade," instead of, you know, the actual tool. If you do an image search for "sling blade tool," the image that seems to show up most frequently isn't the actual bank blade or kaiser blade or brush hook or whatever, but is another tool that I don't know the "official" name, which may actually be "sling blade" for all I know.

Also for reference: Exmortis 2 (along with Exmortis and Exmortis 3, although the third game is not free like the first two are). And to be completely accurate since I played the first bit of the game again just now to check, it was a church, not a farmhouse. I've posted about these games before. I haven't played through the series in a while, though... I might actually do that relatively soon, now that it's on my mind again.
