Just some random things that happened in Oblivion lately that I found interesting...

-- Not only did I kick the ass of the King of Worms, I used his Staff of Worms to reanimate him for a bit. So now, his corpse says "Kane's Mannimarco" whenever you look at it. Not only did I reanimate the King of Worms with his own Staff of Worms, I then cast Soul Trap on him and captured his reanimated soul in a Black Soul Gem. This was not at all required by the quest and was simply something that I did on a whim. That soul gem is now sitting on a table in the Arch-Mage's quarters of the Arcane University. Oh, and killing Mannimarco was what got me promoted to Arch-Mage of the Mages' Guild, by the way.

-- I rode the unicorn! I rode it directly to Hircine's Shrine and then butchered it in front of him! Yeah, joining the Dark Brotherhood was apparently the first step toward my irredeemable corruption. :P

-- Speaking of the Dark Brotherhood, what happened to Lucien LaChance in the end was just plain wrong. Even if he was a cold-blooded murderer like the rest of them. Strangely, however, I had no qualms about the Purification quest. I put those Poisoned Apples to great use in that one. Well, except for Vicente Valtieri, who doesn't eat (normal food). Given that he was the guy who turned me into a vampire, I felt kind of bad about having to cut him down with a backstab from behind using a Daedric Longsword. The undead horse I got as a reward for doing the quest was pretty cool, though.

-- Speaking of being a vampire, it has been rather amusing playing as one. Not only has the Hunter's Sight power been really useful, and not only are the attribute and skill bonuses (which go up the longer you go without feeding) pretty cool, it's also been rather funny that some (most? all?) of the quests don't actually acknowledge that I'm a vampire, which leads to some amusing dialogue at times. In the aforementioned Hircine Daedric quest, for instance, when I gave him the unicorn's horn, he asked me rather mockingly if I'd drank the unicorn's blood. Not that, as a vampire, you actually have the option to do that in the game, but it would have been interesting if I could have said something like, "Well, yeah, actually. I did." In Namira's Daedric quest, I was mocked and asked how it felt to be a being who walked around during the day with the light of the sun falling on me (implying I was one of the normal people, and not one of Namira's usual followers who live in squalid filth and darkness). I wish I'd had some way to respond with something like "Uh, dude, I'm a vampire, I don't do the whole sunlight thing". And, after I'd helped Namira's "Forgotten" kill all of the priests who were trying to light up the crypt in which they were living, all they would say to me when I talked to them was call me a "Creature of Light" and tell me to get lost. Later, in a Thieves' Guild quest, I killed a bunch of vampires who were living in the Imperial City, and afterward in the rumor-mill, everyone is telling me how amazing it was that there were actually vampires living in the city itself. As a sidenote, I own a house myself in every city in Cyrodiil at this point, including the Imperial City. Also, as a vampire, I'm a member of the "Order of the Virtuous Blood", which is a company of vampire-hunters. They pay me money for every instance of vampire dust I bring to them. In one of the Mages' Guild quests, I was sent to Count Janus Hassildor who required me to perform a task for him. He asked me to go clear out a den of vampires that had taken up residence in a cave near his town. What's also interesting is that Hassildor is himself a vampire. In fact, the whole anti-Necromancer arc of the Mages' Guild quest-line was weird to play as a vampire, given that nobody acknowledged that I was one, of course. I believe I've only had one person run screaming from me because they recognized me as a vampire so far, and even then, they were perfectly fine with me after I dashed off and snacked a bit on a beggar who was lying asleep nearby. It's the little things like that which make playing a vampire fun. The only real inconvenience of being a vampire is not being able to fast travel during the daylight hours if you've gone for a day or more without feeding (due to taking constant damage from the sunlight).

-- I witnessed Sheogorath raining flaming dogs from the sky down into a small village of Khajiit (the cat-like race). They took it as the final sign of the apocalypse, after the first two signs which I had brought about myself.

-- Oh, and I stole an Elder Scroll. Yeah, that was kind of ho-hum after all the other stuff.
