(EDIT 2, May 2025)
Since Trump has been (somehow) reelected to SCROTUS IMPOTUS in 2024 and has spent the first part of his reign of terror in 2025 being a massive, massive piece of shit (to the point that even McConnell has, at times, criticized him), I have revised my assessment of Trump, in relation to McConnell. Trump is way worse. No doubt about that. It's just that Trump would not be President now if McConnell had done his fucking job properly back when Trump was impeached the first time, rather than treating it all like a big joke and stupidly acquitting him. So yeah, even if Trump is demonstrably worse now than McConnell ever was, McConnell is still a massive piece of shit himself, too. I'd still be hard-pressed to decide on whom to use that political "Death Note," if I possessed such a thing, especially considering McConnell's direct role in the fact that Trump was able to become SCROTUS IMPOTUS a second time.
(/EDIT 2, May 2025)
So, after looking back over some specific tags of posts, I have found that while pretty much all of my "donald trump" tagged posts (which I have not all read recently) are full of some combination of rage, frustration, cynicism, depression, pessimism, nigh apathy, and such, it is the "mitch mcconnell" tagged posts (which I have all reread in the past hour or so) that are by far the angriest, rage-iest, most wrathful, most "saying-actually-borderline-criminal-things-like-wishing-for-the-literal-deaths-of-fools"-ish of all.
Honestly, as much as I abhor Donald Trump, I'm pretty certain that I actually, actively despise Mitch McConnell even more than I loathe Trump. I stress, it's not "just as much as," it is "even more than." Basically, if I had a magic wand or something like a Death Note that I could use that would remove one, and only one, of those two men from public office forever, I'm pretty damn sure that I would use it without hesitation to remove Mitch McConnell, not Donald Trump. If I could use it to remove Mitch McConnell retroactively, like, as a sort of time machine type of thing, it would be even better. I would set that motherfucking thing back to at least 1985, if not even earlier, and remove Mitch McConnell and his putrid influence on the political landscape of the United States of America. I think that, were it possible, the removal of Mitch McConnell from the political timestream, in and of itself, would have gone a long way toward preventing the rise of Trump, such that I wouldn't have to use that magical object to remove Trump directly. And even if Mitch McConnell's erasure from the timeline didn't effectively remove Trump, I'd still use it against McConnell, anyway.
(EDIT)
"Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich discusses the most dangerous politician of his lifetime, who has damaged our country in ways that will take a generation to undo...Mitch McConnell."
Holy crap... I happened upon that video from not quite a year ago after I wrote all of the above, but it is incredibly relevant to the above post. I'm not sure I agree with the "too close to call" verdict on whether Trump or McConnell is worse, because I think that McConnell is definitively worse, even if Trump may be by far the more bombastic and unpredictable of the two. Another reason I think McConnell is worse that I didn't explicitly mention in the above post (though I have mentioned it in previous posts) is that I believe that pretty much the only reason Trump is even still President at all, to this day, is explicitly because Mitch McConnell is the current Senate Majority Leader.
(EDIT 2, May 2025) Nope, Trump has proven himself in 2025 to be far, far worse than McConnell ever was. But, again, that is, in large part, the direct fault of Mitch McConnell, because if McConnell had done his fucking job back when Trump was impeached the first time and convicted his obviously criminal ass, rather than leading the rush to acquit him, Trump wouldn't be SCROTUS IMPOTUS now, again.
