"Hi. We've got a long road ahead until (at least?) 2029. Today we explore how Democrats are resisting Donald Trump's authoritarian surge and what individuals can do on the local level to help their communities."

Just gonna go ahead and put the "middle-finger-worthy" tag on this one, based solely on the thumbnail showing an image of co-Presidents Musk and Trump gladhanding each other. Now to actually start watching the video.

Okay, so like the first quarter or so of the video is Cody just correctly and appropriately shitting all over the Democrats for doing practically nothing whatsoever of any worth to slow down Trump, other than lawsuits (which, let's be real, will just be tossed out when they reach the Trump-stacked Supreme Court[1]). Basically, Cody is figuratively shitting on Democrat politicians for not literally shitting on the floor of Congress in protest of Trump. The Democrat Party, collectively, is pretty much just sitting around saying "but I am le tired," without even actually "firing z missiles," right now. Worse than that, they're effectively bending over and spreading their ass cheeks for all the "missiles" being fired by the Trumpublicans.

The next section of the video is suggestions for what the rest of us mere mortals can do in the face of this surging tide of rancid dinosaur shit.

Also, quite a bit about Phony Stark and his Department of Obnoxious Memelords and what people are doing to oppose him, both in and outside of government. That said, I don't see how "tethering Elon Musk to the Republican Party" (which, I mean, he's already done, himself, with their full blessing up to now) is going to accomplish much, considering how tethering fucking Dumbshit Jackass Trump himself to the Republican Party has accomplished exactly jack, squat, and shit all, and has, in fact, been counterproductive to any attempt to censure the GQP for their horrendous malfeasance, since it just makes them circle the wagons and double down on their nonsensical adherence to Trump. Still, protesting Tesla because of Elon Musk's rampant dickholery certainly isn't a bad thing, in and of itself. (Aside from the bullet holes through windows and setting fire to recharging stations. I mean, I guess. Like, really, no matter how much you may hate Elron Mustard and his inane Cybertrucks and the fact that he's literally, indisputably a Nazi, maybe don't shoot up Tesla dealerships and set shit on fire, okay?)

Hey, whoa, it turns out at least a small few Democrats actually are doing more than nothing at all, barely. Good on them.

Man, this video almost makes me wish I were less misanthropic and less a/anti/whatever-social and actually cared even the tiniest bit about "coming together with other people." Well, I mean, outside of posting these blog entries into the ethereal void on a semi-regular basis, I guess. *shrug*

(Also, this was yet another video in which it was simply Cody sitting and talking to a camera for the whole video, without any puppets or whatever. The only thing that could be called a dumb skit was the creamed corn crap at the start and his followup little "I gotta go take a shit now" thing at the end. [Beware of the sudden PlutoTV jumpscare at the ass-end of the video, though; I've never before hit the stop button on a Youtube video faster than I did there.])

[1] - Except, maybe possibly, in the most utterly extreme cases, like when Trump is actively ignoring the orders of federal judges and is improperly calling for the impeachment of federal judges, which is a thing about which even Chief Justice John Roberts took a dim view, imagine that. I won't be holding my breath on that, though. (EDIT) Nope, they bent right over for him in that scenario as well. (/EDIT)

(Would've put quotation marks around the above headline, as I usually do on headlines that are just copy/pasted from the article I'm linking to, but they didn't fit, because Dreamwidth's subject field length is still inadequate.)

"Trump subsequently announced that he'd also spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but only after his talk with Putin. After the calls, White House officials declined to clarify whether Ukraine would be a party to the U.S. negotiations.

"That sent a potentially dramatic signal that Washington and Moscow might work to hammer out a deal to end fighting in Ukraine by going around that country's government. Doing so would break with the Biden administration, which steadfastly insisted Kyiv would be a full participant in any decisions made.

"In another blow to Ukraine's Western-leaning aspirations, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said at NATO headquarters in Brussels that NATO membership was unrealistic for Ukraine, it should abandon hopes of winning all its territory back from Russia and any security guarantees for Kyiv would have to be borne by European countries."

*weary sigh*

In other words, prominent Putin-nutsack-licker Donald Trump is blithely doing his pimp's bidding, just as expected.

So, in addition to my prediction about Israel/Gaza coming true, my prediction from that same post about Ukraine being proper fucked as a result of Trump becoming SCROTUS IMPOTUS again appears to be coming true, too. Any "peace" that comes from this will be purely at Putin's fickle whim, nothing more.

And like I also said before, Zelensky was a fool to trust a single word out of Trump's turgid face-anus. Or... maybe Zelensky just realizes that the writing is on the wall and is simply trying to make the best he can of a ridiculously terrible situation (now made exponentially worse by Trump's presence and involvement and playacting as if he has a single fucking clue at all).

Oh, and in another win for Putin, Tulsi Gabbard has been confirmed as director of national """""intelligence.""""" Interestingly and weirdly enough, Moscow's Bitch McConnell was the only GQPer in the Senate who actually didn't vote for her. He was also the only one who didn't vote for Hegseth, either, apparently.

"Hi. Well, we're doing this again.... I guess. So, let's ask the tough question: are Americans just plain stupid for electing Donald Trump?"

The gist of the above video:
  1. Voters in general = ignorant and gullible and inattentive and very checked out of politics on the whole (because politics, granted, is indeed very fucking banal and insane and enraging), but not necessarily full on stupid, and as such it almost, almost makes sense that more of them voted for the loud, obnoxious, brazen liar/con man/criminal who claims he very definitely has real, true, totally legitimate plans to Fix Everything™ instead of for the establishment bozos who appeared (to ignorant, gullible, inattentive, very checked out eyes) to have been, at best, keeping everything bad or, at worst, actively making everything worse, in large part because the loud, obnoxious, brazen liar/con man/criminal repeatedly, incessantly said they were.
  2. Democrats (specifically Democratic politicians) = very definitely stupid, for myriad reasons.
  3. Liberals (extended from Democrats and distinct from progressives [and mainly referring to vapid talking heads on the ol' boob tube and the not so ol' social media]) = apparently secretly racist, sexist, transphobic, MAGA-lite shitbags all along, who don't have a clue what they're talking about, because now they're apparently trying to blame "special interest groups" (like, you know, immigrants and trans people and Palestinians) instead of their namby pamby, wishy washy, milquetoast, "trying to please everybody but actually pleasing nobody" candidates (e.g. Biden and Harris, see point #2), even though said politicians didn't even really do all the "bad" stuff that the pundits are claiming cost them the election (e.g. "bad" stuff like "caring too much about" immigrants and trans people and Palestinians). Let's just say pants-on-head stupid and leave it at that, I guess.
  4. Republicans (specifically, the vile, self-centered, hypocritical asshats who knew and continue to know that Trump is eminently terrible and have explicitly said so in the past, but who now pretend to adore the taste of Trumpian dingleberries) = vile, self-centered, hypocritical asshats who slurp the shit on Trump's ass hair either out of cowardly fear of reprisal, out of the hope that Trump can directly benefit them at the expense of everyone else, and/or out of petty, hateful revenge for racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, etc. very stupid reasons.
  5. Some More News (both the creators and the fans of the show): could and should and need to do better.
  6. In conclusion: We, all of us, even those who voted for Trump, are almost assuredly about to be properly super fucked by Trump and his incoming administration of utter clowns (with apologies to clowns for the unfair comparison), and we need to be prepared for the consequences of that, despite the fact that this is a thing that was easily predicted and long foreshadowed due to the very words that have come out of the face-anuses of Donald Trump and those who disingenuously support Donald Trump. We're all in this together, whether we like it or not.

"Hi. In Part 2 of our Reagan series, we're looking at how Ronald Reagan's presidency altered how both parties think about politics, why it pushed Democrats to the right, and how Reagan's tactics and racist dog whistling paved the way for the rise of Donald Trump."

Follow up to this one.

Wow... Reagan's campaign slogan really was "Let's Make America Great Again." Holy fuck. Well shit, that just makes MAGA even worse, since it's just a blatant, banal ripoff. So... completely par for the course for Dumbshit Jackass Trump, in other words. (If nothing else, it's so nice to be able to say, for the first time in a while, that I'm too young to remember that shit. Still... it feels like that should have been something I would've heard about before now, even so. Huh...)

Oh, and a whole bunch of other really terrible, shitty things were discussed in the above video, too.

"Hi. Today, we will teach Jordan Peterson how the GOP turned climate science into a 'debate' with two sides, and show him what we can do to mitigate the worst outcomes. Are you paying attention, Jordan?!"

Follow up to part one, of course.

You know what? By the end of this video, I was starting to think that maybe it wasn't entirely about Jordan Peterson, or even mostly about Jordan Peterson, or even slightly about Jordan Peterson, except for the occasional reminder that Jordan Peterson is, in fact, a person who exists, who also happens to be a stupid fucking idiot and/or a stupid fucking liar.

At least there was no threatpromise of a third part to this series that was specifically and only about Jordan Peterson. I do think there might be more SMN videos on the topic of climate change[1] in the future, though, oddly enough. Weird, that.

[1] - Or "global warming," if you prefer, since it was apparently the Republicans/Conservatives/GQP who mandated the change from talking about "global warming" to talking about "climate change," because "global warming" scares and enrages them (and also because they are dumbshit liars), rather than the Democrats/Liberals/Not Reality Deniers making the change because talking about "global warming" "wasn't working" or whatever dumbshit lies the former have been telling about the latter for the past two or three decades now. Doesn't (much) matter what it's called, though; it's still a thing that definitely exists and is absolutely happening now, regardless.

"Civil rights groups argued that state Republicans unlawfully redrew GOP Rep. Nancy Mace’s district when they removed thousands of Black voters."

Because of course the Trump/McConnell-stacked GQP SCOTUS would rule that way.

"The court, divided 6-3 on ideological lines with conservatives in the majority, said civil rights group had not done enough to show that legislators were focused on race in drawing the Charleston-area district currently represented by Rep. Nancy Mace, a Republican."

Of fucking course.

*weary, unsurprised sigh + eye roll + smh*

Like I said way back at the very start of darkness (back when the SCOTUS situation was still only a mere hypothetical, though it absolutely has since been proven all too true), the current SCOTUS will continue to fuck us all over for decades to come, with flagrantly terrible decisions like this one here.

"Mitch McConnell, the longest-serving Senate leader in history who maintained his power in the face of dramatic convulsions in the Republican Party for almost two decades, will step down from that position in November."

Three caveats, though:

First, he's not actually leaving the Senate until 2027 (at the earliest, and assuming he really doesn't run and [somehow] win again in 2026), though, so he'll still, you know, be there (barring his untimely death or something. *fingers crossed*).

Second, this just means his "leadership" position is up for grabs by probably some dipshit Trumpanzee now.

Third:

"President Joe Biden, who has had a productive working relationship with McConnell, said he was sorry to hear the news.

"'I’ve trusted him and we have a great relationship,' the Democratic president said. 'We fight like hell. But he has never, never, never misrepresented anything.'"

Holy shitting fuck, Joe. Bitch McConnell has "never, never, never misrepresented anything," Joe? Really, Joe? Seriously, Joe?

Okay, that, right there, could well be the first real evidence that I've seen that maybe Joe Biden might actually be suffering from dementia, after all, like what the Trumpanzees have been claiming all along. I mean, I still don't believe that's truly the case, but... to claim that Bitch McConnell has "never, never, never misrepresented anything" is definitely a dementia-ish delusion, no doubt.

"The G.O.P. abandoned a bipartisan border security bill that also aided Ukraine after Democrats called their bluff on immigration, agreeing to tough measures Republicans demanded."

(Just to note: the above link is to a New York Times article, so it might be trapped behind a paywall. If so, just enable NoScript for nytimes.com, and it should become visible. Or, at least, it's visible for me, anyway. [EDIT] Here is a snapshot of the article from archive.is, at least until that dies. To hell with paywalls. [/EDIT])

The gist of the above article: The GQP said they weren't going to support sending more money to Ukraine unless a bunch of draconian border restrictions (which had dick all to do with support for Ukraine) were tacked onto the bill. The GQP was banking on the Democrats to balk and, thus, allow the GQP to prattle about how the Democrats are "weak on the border." (And, I guess, also "weak on helping Ukraine"?) Instead, the Democrats essentially said, sure, okay, and agreed to most of the border shit. And, now, the GQPers are the ones balking and scuttling the bill, because their Lord and Savior Donald Trump would rather "the border" remain an issue, instead of allow it to be fixed[1] under Biden's administration.

The very best thing that could happen for this country would be for every single Trumpublican who is running for election/reelection in November (up to and including, of course, Dumbfuck Jizzstain Trump himself) to be soundly, unquestionably, thoroughly trounced forever. Until Trump is dead and gone, the Republican Party is essentially irredeemable (assuming they ever were redeemable, even before Trump befouled the political process by poking his mushroom-like chode into it all).

Don't get me wrong, the Democrats are still shit, too. But the Democrats are more like the kind of shit you can use for compost, at least, in which useful things could potentially be planted and grown. The GQP, on the other hand, is more like sludge that a sewage treatment plant would filter out as hazardous, toxic waste, in which nothing living could ever grow.

[1] - Depending on one's definition of the word "fixed," of course, since the bill kind of sucked, regardless, in part because the Democrats let the GQP "win" on so many of the things the GQP asked for. And now the GQP is rejecting that very same bill, because American politics is fucking stupid and broken and worse-than-worthless.
kane_magus: (Default)
The fact that Donald Trump is even being mentioned at all in relation to this, let alone being a deciding factor, demonstrates how utterly fucked up US politics are.

Honestly, for me, the only thing slightly surprising about this is that Thom Tillis, of all people, is one of the ones (half-assedly) supporting the deal and not merely talking in lockstep with his God Emperor. That upgrades him from the status of "irredeemable Trumpanzee" to the status of "even a stopped clock is right twice a day."
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. The GOP has been in control of the House for just over two months, but all they can seem to do is promote awful legislation, hold performative investigations, and fight amongst themselves."

So, essentially, it's pretty much what everyone with at least two brain cells to rub together expected would be the case, then.

And, of course, yet more discussion of banal GQP whinging about "wokeness" in this video.

Also, those extended clips from CPAC near the end of the video made my arms tired, due to the sustained hoisting of double middle fingers throughout the whole bit.
kane_magus: (Default)
A post on Whatever.

Everyone's making fun of the so-called "red wave" and how it ended up being more of a "red trickle" at most. But here's the thing, though. The fact that the GQP candidates, particularly the worst of the Trump-wannabes and other such QAnon-believing, (2020) election-denying nutfucks, won as much as they did (e.g. GQP expected to take majority in the House of Representatives, which is terrible enough on its own), and that every single one of them wasn't completely, entirely, fully shut out, in utter landslide defeats across the board... well this just goes to show that this country is still far too fucked up in the head right now, same as it has been since the colossal brainfart of 2016. Maybe not as fucked up as it could be, granted, but still incredibly fucked up.

Also, Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema are still there (they're not up to be drummed out until 2024, which they probably won't be, unfortunately), so it doesn't even really matter all that much that the Democrats will retain the Senate, because those two DINOs/stealth-GQPers will continue to monkey wrench everything all to hell anyway, same as they did before.

I guess I'm happy that it wasn't much, much worse (especially when taking into account all the myriad ways in which the GQP has been [and is still] trying to cheat and game the system), sad that it wasn't much, much better (i.e. complete and total, unequivocal, literally not-able-to-be-denied defeat for every GQP candidate), and realistic that it is, objectively speaking, still pretty fucking bad, regardless. It has been "pretty fucking bad, regardless" for quite a long while now.

"Hi. The Supreme Court – which has never been an apolitical entity – has been coming out with some really frightening rulings lately and is likely to keep it up. That's because fringe right-wing groups have infiltrated the Supreme Court and are now circumventing democracy to make laws."

Even before I watch this video, based solely on the title and description, I just want to repeat once again that this is something that I predicted would be the case even as far back as when Trump was first elected as POTUS in 2016. This is not a prediction that I'm glad to have gotten correct, obviously. I sorely wish I would have been proven wrong.

Now to actually watch the video...

Oh, right, this video brings up something else that I've discussed quite a bit in the past, that being the unfortunate fact that Mitch McConnell, one of the most rancid shitstains to ever dirty a pair of underwear worn by collective humanity as a whole, is a person who is, horrifically, still alive and in a position of power. As much as I utterly loathe Donald Trump and wish that Trump could be launched into the sun inside of a very slow moving, poorly (or, perhaps, excessively) ventilated rocket, I hate Bitch McConnell even more than I hate Trump, as I've said before, and wish that McConnell could be strapped to the outside of that same rocket, preferably right in front of the engine exhaust part of it. And, honestly, even then, I would feel bad for the sun, due to it having been polluted by the insertion of these two vile puddles of human-shaped diarrhea via intentionally poorly-made rocket.

Needless to say, this was an extended-double-middle-finger video. I'll just say it yet again: the GQP and all of the infrastructure in place that supports the GQP needs to be dismantled and needs to cease to exist until the end of time and beyond. Because they are for damn sure proceeding full steam ahead on that whole "usurp[ing] for themselves the reigns of government; destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion" thing they they've been doing, flagrantly, for the past several decades.

(Also, I have added a new "supreme court" tag to this post, and at some point I will be back-tagging all the other posts I've made that mention it, however long that process may take, and I'm sure I'll probably miss a few as usual. [EDIT] Well, for now, I've gone back as far as the "politics" tag will let me, which is only 500 entries, which got me barely back as far as 2019, which sucks. That's where I gave up on it, at least for now. I guess, eventually, I need to break up the "politics" tag by year, the same as I've still to this day have not finished doing with the old "games" tag, so... yeah... I'll get right on that, I'm sure... *weary sigh* [/EDIT])

"Hi. In this week's video, we discuss the Supreme Court overturning Roe Vs Wade, and man, it's a real bummer."

Obligatory gripe about shitty teaser videos and premieres and whatnot.

With that out of the way...

They don't mention it in this video, but I think one of the most hypocritical things about the whole anti-abortion brouhaha is this: the states which ostensibly care so very much about the "sanctity of life" or whatever that they're climbing over each other to be the first to enact draconian laws against women getting abortions and against anyone who dares to lift a finger to help women get abortions... are the same fucking states that are potentially most likely to punish anyone and everyone who violates said draconian laws... ...with the fucking death penalty.

Also, mild shout out, again, to how utterly (and intentionally) broken the Supreme Court is, now, which they also touch upon in this video.
kane_magus: (Default)
Apropos of everything, I think I will just leave this here, again:

"All obstructions to the execution of the Laws, all combinations and associations, under whatever plausible character, with the real design to direct, controul, counteract, or awe the regular deliberation and action of the constituted authorities, are destructive of this fundamental principle, and of fatal tendency. They serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force---to put in the place of the delegated will of the nation, the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprizing minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common councils, and modified by mutual interests.

"However combinations or associations of the above description may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people, and to usurp for themselves the reigns of government; destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion."

-- George Washington, excerpted from his 1796 Farewell Address

I strongly feel like if Washington were still alive today, he'd look around at all the bullshit going on now, nod his head solemnly, and say, "Yes, this is exactly what I meant when I wrote that."

It's like the Trumpublicans took what Washington said there and decided to see it as a life goal, rather than as the dire warning Washington clearly meant it to be. Granted, the Democrats and all the others are just as indicative of this problem, in their own ways, but at least they're not actively and flagrantly doing the very thing (i.e. usurping for themselves the reigns of government; destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion) that Washington warned about in his speech there. But then, I bet that all the Trumpanzees in the country would counter that, no, ackchyually, it is the rest of us who are doing that thing. Go figure. This country is fucked.

I mean, even if the Jan. 6 hearings are completely successful and end up with Trump and everyone within smelling distance of Trump going away to prison forever (and though the entire thing sounds utterly dire for the Trumpublicans, I still feel like that end result is just a pie in the sky pipe dream), that would still accomplish exactly jack and shit as far as curbing the broken Supreme Court (that Trump, doing the bidding of Bitch McConnell and the rest, ramrodded into existence) and their terrible decisions for the next several decades or so. That's something that will continue to fuck over the country long after Trump and Bitch McConnell and the rest are nothing but food for worms (or ashes on the wind, as the case may be).

"Hi. In today's episode, we ask questions about Joe Biden's first year as president. Questions like, 'What's his name?' and 'How's it going, Joe?'"

Be warned: Warmbo is in this video. Anyway, outside of the mere existence of Warmbo in this video, there was very little else with which I disagreed.

Or, rather, there was a whole hell of a lot in this video with which I disagreed, but it was not the fact that it was Cody who was presenting the things said by others with which I disagreed, nor was it Cody's vicious mockery of said disagreeable things. Like, I didn't agree with a single word that Dumbfuck Trump or Bitch McConnell or any of the other GQP dumbfucks (or GQP dumbfuck-wannabes like Manchin or Sinema) said, and there were some things that Biden himself said with which I didn't agree, but I'm glad Cody presented all those things, if only for the purposes of middle finger waving.

"Hi. Today we are forced to discuss Critical Race Theory and what people think it is. Sorry."

That Christopher Rufo fuckwit is yet another asshole who has earned sustained middle fingers from me (along with similar shits-for-brains like Fucker Carlson and Bitch McConnell and Dumbfuck Jackass Trump and Ted Cruz [haven't bothered to come up with an insulting play on his name like I did for the others yet, nor does he have a tag like the others, as he's honestly not worth it], all of whom were featured in the above video in some capacity).

I wasn't sure if there would be a sustained-double-deuce-worthy situation in this video, but then, sure enough, Bitch McConnell's leathery face appeared on screen, during which he spewed quite a bit of verbal shit out of that anus he keeps between his nose and his chin. (Also, with this post comes the addition of the "middle-finger-worthy" tag to my repertoire.)

Alternate link because region-locking is also middle-finger-worthy.
