I think the thing that is (at least to me) simultaneously the biggest dichotomy ever, but also a thing which makes absolutely perfect sense, is the existence of yards in which there is one of those "Thank You Jesus" signs and also a big, ugly "Trump/Pence 2020" sign, sometimes right there beside the "Thank You Jesus" sign.
On the one hand, if these households actually followed the teachings of Jesus Christ, as I understand them, then they wouldn't want to have anything whatsoever to do with Donald fucking Trump at all, because Trump is easily one of the very least Christ-like people on planet Earth right now (to put it succinctly, an "anti-Christ," if you will). On the other hand, it makes total sense to me that these signs would be side-by-side, because more often than not, lately, I have found that so-called "Christians" are either that in name only (like Trump), or else my understanding of what Christianity is actually supposed to be is vastly flawed, and all this time Christianity has really just been an exclusive club for racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic asshats of the worst order (like Trump). Or, at the very least, that's what seems to be true of the shitty fundamentalist variants of "Christianity" that are most prevalent in The South™, anyway.
