At first glance, you might think "Holy fuck, that's a lot of games there." But then, you realize that at least half of that stuff is just DLC, soundtracks, "upgrades," and other extras. I mean, it's still nothing to sneeze at, but it's not nearly as impressive as the gargantuan scrolling list might at first seem.
That said, I did buy two or three things from there that I didn't already have.

Date: 2021-01-19 07:26 am (UTC)From:I doubt I'd buy the game on gog all the same (or any pc store) but that's only because my computer sucks for gaming and I'm sure it'd run like crap for me.
There are other games I'd probably consider but then it runs up against the wall of gog not having prepaid cards to load onto my account. Technically I could load a visa/mastercard giftcard onto it, but those have activation fees and aren't reloadable and otherwise a big hassle. So I guess gog can continue waiting for me to spend money on it the way I'll spend money on steam.

Date: 2021-01-27 02:24 pm (UTC)From:Besides that, Steam tells me there are two more Ys games I also don't have, Ys: Memories of Celceta and Ys IX: Monstrum Nox (though the latter isn't actually out yet).
Not that I've actually played any of the other Ys games I do have on Steam at all yet, either, so... *shrug*
Honestly, I can't rightly remember the last time I played or even tried to play a straight JRPG lately (outside of replaying through Earthbound again a year ago or whenever and maybe a half to two-thirds through that Marvelous game, though that's more a Zelda-ish game than what I'd call a JRPG, I guess). Steam tells me I played 4.5 hours of Tales of Symphonia back in Feb 2017, so it was probably that. But then, the most recent Tales game is on my shitlist now due to Denuvo, so that dampens my enthusiasm to try to play any of the others, too. I haven't even re-bought Tales of Vesperia yet, even though I had that on console back in the day and it was pretty cool (though the fact that they're trying to sell a 2008 game for $50 on Steam is part of the reason I haven't gotten it yet). Before that, back in 2015, Steam says I played almost 50 hours into the remake of the first Neptunia game, though I never finished that, either. The last JRPG that I actually finished... I don't even know (again, aside from Earthbound).
As far as GOG in general goes... it's kind of bad in that I mostly use game release and sale announcements from GOG to then turn around and check to see if the games are on Steam and, if they are, typically wishlist/buy them there instead of GOG. >_>; The only games I've gotten on GOG lately, aside from the above, have been the free ones they occasionally give away due to being signed up for the newsletter or whatever.
