I would say that I'm starting to remember the reasons why I originally abandoned Twitter in the first place, but that would be a lie. I actually started to remember that shit within five minutes or so of coming back in March or whenever. ¬_¬

Well, no, not even that is entirely accurate. I figured even *before* I started paying attention to Twitter again that it would still be a cesspool, but I was hoping that with Trump gone, it wouldn't be quite as *much* of a cesspool. Apparently I was incorrect in that assessment.

I did a severe culling of my Following list shortly after I came back and started using Twitter again. I think I might need to do that again at some point in the rather near future.

Either that or just start wholesale muting words and phrases like "Trump" and "Republican" and "GOP" and other such related horseshit. :/
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) May 24, 2021
Okay, just put a 30 day ban on the above and a bunch more and will add even more as I see it. Let's see if this improves my Twitter user experience.
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) May 24, 2021
Won't stop me from seeing and most likely tweeting about similar dumbshit via sources outside of Twitter, mind you, but it's still a start, at least.
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) May 24, 2021
Another downside: it doesn't do shit about screengrab "retweets" with snarky one-liners attached.
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) May 25, 2021
In any case, e.g., I muted "Donald Trump." Yet I'm still seeing screengrabs of whatever dumbfuckery was shat out onto "The Desk of Donald Trump," with something like "yep, still a dumbass" or whatever attached. The mute filter won't touch that, unfortunately, which is irritating.
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) May 25, 2021
It's like... yes, I completely agree... but there's nothing I can do about it, and, for the next 30 days at least, I'd just rather not see it at all. I mean, I could unfollow the "offender," I guess, but that feels like trying to kill dungflies with an assault rifle or something.
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) May 25, 2021
Or... I could just go back to not using Twitter again at all, I suppose (which I have to admit is increasingly tempting). *shrug*
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) May 25, 2021
There's good stuff on Twitter, definitely. It just sometimes feels like having to wade neck-deep through pisswater to get to it, though. And... with living in The South™ I see/hear enough of that kind of crap IRL; I just don't want to see so much of it on Twitter on top of that.
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) May 25, 2021
Installing a Firefox add-on to hide the sidebar and all that "trending" crap has helped some, as well. The vast majority of that was either political stuff, which is never not annoying, or sports/celebrity crap that I don't care about in the first place.
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) May 25, 2021
Anyway, I'm just ranting. Like... ranting *explicitly* about the fact that I don't want to just be ranting about stupid, enraging stuff all the time, which is like... okay. I'm done, for now.

And now I have a massive headache and will be returning to bed for at least a few hours.
