Before WATCHING THE VIDEO, I'd just like to say that I REALLY WISH they'd stop using ALL CAPS in their VIDEO TITLES, because it just makes it look like SHITTY CLICKBAIT.

Now, to watch the video, which I feel like I'll agree with, despite the clickbaity title...

Well, damn, they could have ended the video right after Ian's initial statement within the first 40 seconds or so of the video: "NFTs are dogshit. Fuck off with your NFTs."

Yeah, even though the vast majority of people either have no interest or (like me) have severely negative interest in NFTs, it's only the people dropping dumptruck-loads of money on them that really matter right now.

I legitimately love how angry Ian and Pat are getting about this. "It's a fucking sham." I fully agree.

If Will Wright is into this shit now... *weary sigh* ...god damn it. I'd never heard of this "play-to-earn" thing before now. "Play-to-earn" can eat my ass, entire. Fuck Will Wright and Peter Molyneux and everyone else involved with this horseshit.

Anyway, yeah, I agree with Ian and Pat 100%. I mean, shit, they came up with some additional plausible nightmare scenarios that I hadn't even considered before now.

NFTs need to die and go back to the hell they spawned from, and the sooner the better.

I'd probably toss Ubisoft on the ban list over this - if they haven't been there for over a decade already. Just means I have even less reason to look at anything they're releasing.

I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking these companies are doing these things as a weird ass form of anti-piracy. Just make the game so undesirable that nobody wants anything to do with it - even if they get it for free.

I've long thought that basically everything that the modern video game industry does just boils down to anti-piracy, from the obvious stuff like Denuvo and other such tacked on malware, to any of the "games as service" bullshit that requires Internet, to pretty much any and all DLC/microtransactions especially if the game has an obvious, obnoxious "checking DLC" pop-up every time you first start the game, even to the shitty, shoehorned in multiplayer components of otherwise singleplayer games which, again, require being online. And yeah, NFTs are no different at all in that regard. Essentially, the way it is now and has been for years now, anything and everything in a video game that requires you to have an Internet connection to play it is there primarily as a stealth (or not-so-stealth in a lot of cases) form of anti-piracy. The only reason most of that shit is there is just as a means for the devs/pubs to have the game phone home. After all, gotta protect that bottom line. (Even if said protection actively hurts them in cases of people like me who simply refuse to buy their game at all explicitly because that shit is there. But of course, as always, the people with their lips glued to the sewer pipe greatly outnumber people like me, so it unfortunately doesn't hurt them all that much when I don't buy their shit.)
