My initial response to this, based just on the headline, was "No fucking shit. Of course it is. Trump is dogshit."
But then, I looked at the article and saw that his approval rating was still a whopping 41%[1], apparently. The fact that it is still so fucking high is just utterly mind-boggling, and it just goes to show how stupidly fucked up this country continues to be. Because, again, Trump is absolute dogshit.
With apologies to actual dogshit for the unfair comparison.
[1] - And that depends on which particular poll one happens to look at, but even Faux Noise agrees that it's pretty damn low, even if their own overall rating is much higher, and they try to spin it as not so bad as all that, because of course they do.

Date: 2025-04-27 06:38 pm (UTC)From:Worse problems are in the pipeline. For instance, tariffs and especially flipflopping on tariffs will make many people around the world decide that selling things in America is simply unfeasible because they can't even be sure that the rules will stay the same between when an item ships and when it arrives days or months later.
Smart people can look at things like this, quickly extrapolate likely problems from it, and get upset immediately. Dumb people have to wait until, for instance, prices skyrocket and/or items disappear from shelves. Thus the first hit is from smart people who never voted for him or were quickly alerted to his uselessness. The second will be when his majority base notices problems they care about. But even then, there is an insulating factor, because some of them will blame someone else for those problems -- likely Democrats and immigrants because that's the party line.

It's at least in part because MAGA stupidity comes part and parcel with MAGA gullibility, MAGA ignorance, and MAGA hatefulness. And yeah, it's a big part of why the majority of the MAGAts will never appropriately place the blame where it deserves to be placed: on Trump. And they'll continue to do this even as the world burns down around them, due primarily to the direct actions of their very own God Emperor.
