Woolie: "Live service was a mistake."

Or, perhaps more accurately:

Outside of occasional dips back into No Man's Sky for stuff like real oceans and the like (which, while cool, certainly was no Subnautica), if a game has limited-time FOMO content like what they talk about in the above video, then that game may as well have never existed at all, as far as I am concerned. And even in No Man's Sky I give zero fucks at all about the "Expedition" shit.
Well, no, I suppose Fallen London (previously called Echo Bazaar) also counts as that, but it has so much content in the free "base game" that I have not yet once felt a need to buy "Fate" nor become an "Exceptional Friend" subscriber for any of that premium, exclusive stuff. (I just kind of wish there was a way to hide all the Fate-locked options that sometimes tend to clog up my screen.) And who knows, if I ever manage to see all the content in the free game in a decade or so (with 20 actions per session and a 10 minutes per action recharge rate, i.e. roughly 3 hours and 20 minutes downtime, it will take a while), I might be willing to drop some real world money on it. Either that or I might finally (re)try Sunless Sea, Sunless Skies, and Mask of the Rose, all of which I've put at least a couple hours into (12 for Sea so far), but haven't yet given a proper try.
