I have for you a tale of tragedy, upheaval, and betrayal. This is a tale consisting of two chapters.
Chapter 1 - The Bus
My bus was supposed to arrive at the Redmond Park and Ride at 2:10pm and would have gotten me to school at around 2:20pm, which would have been plenty early enough for my SOS 399 class that started at 2:30pm. I got to the P&R around 2:05pm or so and began to wait. And wait. And wait. And wait some more.
The bus finally arrived at the P&R at 2:25pm. At least one minute was wasted while the bus driver argued with two kids, one of which claimed to have retardedly thrown away his transfer pass because he apparently thought he didn't need it anymore, for whatever dumbass reason. I don't think the driver believed his story and was wanting him to either pay the fare or get the hell off of the bus, but finally he let it slide and just gave the guy another transfer.
Then the driver sat there for a bit and then exited the bus to muck with a mirror on the side. He boarded the bus again, sat there for a bit, then went back out to muck with it some more. The whole time I'm sitting there wondering what the hell is he doing when the bus is already 15 minutes late. When he reboarded the bus again, he loudly said, "Well! I can't move the bus. The mirror's broken."
Everyone got off the bus. I knew I was already going to be late anyway, so I decided to just wait for the next bus, which wasn't due to arrive until 2:35pm. Well, about five minutes later, at around 2:30pm, the driver of the broken mirror bus came out and said that he had been given clearance from HQ or whatever to drive the bus anyway. So we all got back on the bus and he finally got me to my stop on NE 51st St. I feel bad for the people who wanted to go to Seattle, since the driver said he was going to stop at Overlake and sit there until they fixed his mirror because he didn't want to get on the Interstate with a broken mirror. I don't blame him, but it sucked to be those other passengers too. It didn't matter to me though, since I was off the bus and on my way to school finally.
Chapter 2 - DigiPen
I walked into DigiPen at around 2:40pm or so, already 10 minutes late for SOS 399.
I went back to Michelangelo and... the room was completely empty. I checked the schedule on the door and saw that, in fact, this was indeed the room where SOS 399 was supposed to be taught.
I went up to the front office and asked them what was going on. The woman at the desk said that, apparently, only three people had signed up for that class. She then apologized for the school having "dropped the ball" in not actually informing the students of this class that it had been canceled.
I said that, well, I had originally been signed up for MAT 340, which was scheduled to be taught at the same time as SOS 399, but in a different room, so that if they could re-sign me up for that again, it would be okay.
Let me pause here for a bit of background. I had originally signed up for MAT 340 because I needed an elective. I didn't really want to take another math class, but that was pretty much the only option available at the time. I thought, hey, a math class being taught by Professor Meerdink. How hard can it be?
But when Professor Schafer told us about SOS 399, I kinda jumped at the chance to drop MAT 340 like a hot potato and sign up for that instead, since it wasn't a math or CS class. Ah well, so much for that.
Anyway, when I mentioned offhand something about Meerdink teaching the class, the office lady said something along the lines of "That's weird because Meerdink was just in here asking about the SOS 399 class, like he was going to be taking that himself or something." I'm like "...okay." She went back and started switching me from SOS 399 to MAT 340.
After she signed me up for the class she said that, yes, it was still in Curie and had started at 2:30pm, same as the ill-fated SOS 399. However, Dr. Klassen was now teaching the class.
Yay.
So, now, not only am I stuck with a math class that I really hadn't wanted to take to begin with, but I am stuck in a math class that, being taught by Klassen, is probably going to be about a billion times harder and more work than it would have been had it still been taught by Meerdink.
*sigh* Between this and them canceling CS 399, this semester is already sucking pretty hard. The lack of CS 399 meant that I signed up for CS 460, which I believe is going to kick my ass pretty royally, judging from sitting through the first lecture today.
Epilogue - Bus II: The Revenge
And to top things off, the bus to go back home was about 8 or 9 minutes later than it should have been. At least it didn't have a broken mirror.
