'Asteroids' lands at Universal
Jul. 3rd, 2009 11:59 amUm... wha...? (EDIT - Apparently, this article is behind some subscription crap a broken link now, bah. - /EDIT)
Assuming of course that is even the least bit true and not made-up whole cloth for teh lulz... ...again, wha...?
"As opposed to today's games, there is no story line or fancy world-building mythology, so the studio would be creating a plot from scratch. Universal, however, is used to that development process, as it's in the middle of doing just that for several of the Hasbro board game properties it is translating to the big screen, such as 'Battleship' and 'Candyland.'"
Ah, I get it now. They're just making a random space movie, and then slapping the name "Asteroids" on it.
Wait... they're making movies based on Battleship and Candyland?
Wha...?
(Also, based on what little I've seen of it, that being just the trailer they played when I went to see Star Trek, I think the G.I. Joe movie is going to be spectacularly horrific.)
