Yeah... everything Pat says in this video is accurate, most of which is positive, but even the negatives are accurate.
Honestly, the least fun I had in
Dragon's Dogma was probably when I was in Cassardis or Gran Soren doing fetch quests or trying to follow the "storyline" or whatever. The most fun was when I was just randomly wandering the countryside and the caves of Gransys or the catacombs under Bitterblack, fighting monsters with my pawn buddies.
And this is coming from me, a guy who is, in most other games, doing what I can to just slog through the dungeons and fights as soon as possible, in order to get to the next town with new quests and story bits. I mean, obviously, it depends on the game, as some RPGs have more interesting dungeons and combat than others, but generally, the gameplay is in service to the story for me. In
Dragon's Dogma, though, the story just kind of gets in the way of the gameplay, for the most part.
