Mass Effect 3: Still disappointing players a decade after its release.

Just to note, to this day, I still have not played Mass Effect 3, despite having played through both ME1 and ME2 multiple times, a decade or more ago. And at this point, unless I happen to see it on sale for like $5 or less, I probably never will, either, exactly for the reasons explained here. The series just entirely shit the bed in the final hour.

And Pat is spot on about the Borg from Star Trek, too. The Borg were great in The Next Generation. Then First Contact introduced the "Borg Queen," which basically ruined them, and the problem was then severely exacerbated in Voyager.

My solution to the problems discussed in the above video is very simple: never, ever buy or play Early Access games.

At least not anymore, as I admittedly used to dip my toe into them from time to time, if they seemed interesting enough. Now, if I happen to see an Early Access game that looks potentially interesting, like if it pops up on my discovery queue or whatever, I will simply add it to my wishlist and then forget all about it, until it has been actually released.

Not that there's truly any real distinction between "early access" and "released" anymore, regardless. *shrug*

Full headline, because Dreamwidth's subject field continues to suck: "Bobby Kotick's AI comments perfectly sum up the thoughtlessness behind the large-language model gold rush"

I think LLM/AI could have some wonderful applications in games, once they work most of the kinks out of it, but I sure as fucking shit wouldn't want Bobby Kotick, of all people, to be the one leading the charge on that.
