I have to say, this looks pretty amazing.
Granted either it was all entirely scripted or else she knew exactly what to say and how to act so as to prevent friend Milo from exploding into a horrific display of pure Turing Test fail.*
But even so, I definitely see huge potential here.
* - I say this mostly to dampen my own enthusiasm over this, even if only somewhat, because otherwise there would probably be tap-dancing involved in some way. It's that freaking cool.

Date: 2009-06-05 04:11 pm (UTC)From:Given that Natal itself is new as well, there were likely to be any number of potential screw-ups either with the Milo software or with the Natal hardware, so it's not really surprising that they wouldn't want to show it off to the general public via unscripted video footage just yet. Someone coming out and saying it doesn't work yet is a lot better than someone coming out with footage of it breaking spectacularly.
As cool as it would be if they could do it, I really doubt that they'll be able to get Milo to be consistently awesome to an even remotely reasonable degree. At this point the Milo thing is probably little more than a gussied up ELIZA or something similar, if even that much. I'm hoping that I'm wrong of course and that in the end it's way more cool than that, but... well, it is Peter Molyneux here. He has a horrible habit of making these huge claims about unproven stuff (*cough*Fable*cough*BlackandWhite*cough*) and then ending up having to eat his words.
I find it amusing that Lionhead claims to be "taking precautions (http://www.destructoid.com/e3-09-lionhead-taking-precautions-against-touching-milo-134902.phtml)" against allowing people to act like a perv around Milo. Given that a good number of the responses to Milo that I've seen from around the Internet has been stupid shit like "I'm gonna show him my dick!" or something along those lines, I can see why.

2: "Well, supposedly, the full title of the game, or whatever it is, will be Milo & Kate. I don't know about a sexy drow elf maid being named 'Kate', but eh, could be possible."
3: "Hells yeah. Totally."
