Before I commit to this, I'll just toss up what I have in my Newegg shopping cart at the moment:

Total Cost: around $880 (after shipping, factoring in rebates, etc.)

This is based on the budget systems found on this thread. As I said, I'm not too much worried about having top of the line stuff now, just enough to play current games reasonably well with the option for upgrading later as needed or as desired (without having to do a total rebuild again).

I'm still open to suggestions, and am somewhat willing to go a bit higher on the price to get better stuff (up to maybe $1000, perhaps a wee bit more if there's an absolutely gotta-have part or something that I'm missing), but this is pretty close to what the final build will probably be.

As stated in a previous post, I don't need keyboard, mouse, monitor, HDD, speakers, etc, as I'm just going to use what I have.

I'll leave this up for a few days, until, say, sometime early-to-mid next week, and if I don't see any definitive "Stop! Don't make such a horrible mistake!" comments by then, I'm going to hit the button and put in the order.

(UPDATE)

I've replaced the CPU and Motherboard listed above with:

CPU: Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard: ASUS P7P55D-E Pro LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

These are from the "Gamer" build on the Tom's Hardware thread.

Also, I removed the extra CPU fan and thermal paste altogether.

This increases the price from around $880 to around $950 (the cost of the different CPU and mobo, minus the cost of the fan and thermal stuff), which really isn't that big of a difference overall.

These changes are based on recommendations by Yamen on the Facebook version of this post, though I had been really tempted to go with those to begin with, honestly.

Also, I'm tentatively thinking of replacing the case listed above with this one instead, which would only be another $20 (after the instant rebate + mail-in rebate and such). In the end, it'll probably just come down to a coin flip or something as to whether I do that or not.

As such, this is likely will be the very near final version, barring any other suggestions.

Well you know I prefer AMD to Intel, which is why I got a 3.2Ghz quad core:

Same memory, oddly enough.
