Huh.
Seems strange given how much everyone apparently didn't like the first one (even though I personally really liked it). Also, generally speaking, any time they feel the need to add "3D" to the title of the movie, I take that as a bad sign. (But then, they have made how many Resident Evil movies now? Even though everyone tells me they all sucked hard? Of course, the only one of the RE movies that I've seen myself so far is the first, and I thought it was okay. I still want to watch the others at some point as well, but have just never gotten around to it.)
As for the plot, however... I find it kind of strange that this new Silent Hill movie will have Heather Mason in it. The reason for this should be immediately obvious to anyone who has played Silent Hill 1 and 3 as well as seen the first Silent Hill movie. I won't go into much more detail for the sake of spoilers for the games, for those who may not have played them. I wonder if there will be the same sort of connection between the first movie and this new one, given how much the plot of the first movie diverged from that of the game, and if not I wonder how they will explain it, or if they'll even bother to try.
Given that Rose from the first movie is apparently back in this one as well, however, I can't say that I have any idea what they're going to do. And if Rose is going to be back, for whatever reason, then I hope Sharon/Alessa is back as well, at least as long as she's played by Jodelle Ferland again. Especially since Miss Ferland quite obviously isn't the one playing Heather Mason in this new movie, which would be strange if they're trying to keep the connection that existed in the games, but that's getting into major spoiler territory, so I will stop there.
Honestly, I kind of hope that they just don't even try to shoehorn the big plot point from the games into the movies and instead try to do something different and new. Even though, admittedly, I said that the first movie would have been better if it had followed the game more closely, rather than branching off into that cult thing. But then, the cult thing now kind of fits nicely with Silent Hill 3, sort of, which is what the new movie is apparently going to emulate, so... I dunno. But then again, if they do throw out the connection, then you'll just have nerds screaming that it's RUINED FOREVER because it isn't exactly like the games. *eye roll* Problem is, given what little I know about this new movie, in conjunction with the previous movie and the games, I can't really see how they could make it be just like the games, and if they try to do so, I fear it will be a big mistake. Maybe I'll be proven wrong, however.
Okay, the above consists mostly of rambling, so I'll stop.
(And, yet again, I have to point out how incredibly retarded IMDB's "1. Click into the address bar, 2. Press enter, 3. Click reload" bullshit is, and I will continue to do so in any post in which I link to IMDB until they get rid of this lame functionality.)
