That's trillion. Not billion.

Let me restate this: Limewire is being sued for an amount roughly equivalent to the gross domestic product of the entire planet Earth (estimated to be $74.48 trillion in 2010, according to the CIA World Factbook).

This is the record companies saying that they are literally suing Limewire for all the money in the world. I thought that sort of thing only happened in kindergarten.

I know some people would pipe up to say "They're just saying what they're entitled to based on US Law. It's the law that's the problem, not the RIAA."

But screw that. Both are at fault. The RIAA for actively helping to put that kind of stuff into the lawbooks (by basically pre-writing it for the good politicians) and the politicians/senators/etc for actually putting it through for them.

But hey, now the RIAA can sit back and say "Well, we'll be fair here. While you owe us all the money in the world, we'll let you off with a measly 10 trillion because we're so generous."
