I have to agree with Mord (and, in fact, I already did) that this kind of thing is just flat out absurd. I mean, I don't think DLC is inherently a bad thing, per se, but this... yeah, this is just abhorrent.
I fear it's only going to go even further downhill from there. I have to agree again with Mord that something like this is looking more and more likely every day.

Date: 2011-03-31 04:23 pm (UTC)From:One recent example to me is Dynasty Warriors 7. They've released a good amount of DLC. A lot of it is free (mostly costumes and music tracks from older games), and they've released additional weapons for 100 yen and additional scenarios for 200 yen. This isn't stuff that's already on the disc or that was simply cut from the game before release. They also released some DLC and donated the money to the earthquake relief.

Date: 2011-03-31 06:38 pm (UTC)From:The Fable II Knothole Island (http://fable.wikia.com/wiki/Knothole_Island) and See the Future (http://fable.wikia.com/wiki/See_the_Future) things were also pretty cool. They added some new areas with several new quests and such.
I'd like to include the similar stuff for Dragon Age Origins like Leliana's Song (http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Leliana%27s_Song) or Witch Hunt (http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Witch_Hunt), if only they had lasted longer than just a couple of hours at most. They were fairly interesting, but were just too short.
Also, there was quite a bit of free stuff available for LittleBigPlanet that was pretty cool. But, that said, I probably wouldn't have gotten any of it had it actually cost money, though. It's been a while since I played LBP though, so I can't remember off-hand what all there was.
