While my initial reaction to this story was irritation, I then thought about it a bit, and it made me have to ask myself why would I think that was any more offensive than this was. I'll freely admit that I thought BushOrChimp.com was pretty funny when I first heard about it, back in the day. In both instances, the President of the United States is being compared to a chimpanzee. Why would I have no problem with the Bush thing, but then be annoyed by this Obama thing, since they are more or less the same thing?

Is it the nasty racist undertones of the Obama thing* that aren't really present in the Bush Or Chimp stuff (since they're "only" making fun of his perceived intelligence, rather than his ethnic background) that make it worse? Or did I find it more annoying just because it's about "my" guy, as opposed to the other guy (who I consider to have all but completely pissed our country down the toilet during his eight years in office, from which we still haven't fully recovered and probably won't for a long while yet, especially if more Republicans/Teabaggers keep getting voted in)? Hmm. Probably a little of both, actually.

* - This isn't an isolated incident. See also the watermelons at the White House thing** mentioned in the article, as well as the Obamacare witch doctor thing and the Obama Bucks thing**, not to mention the earlier comparisons of Michelle Obama to a chimp (or Chewbacca or the salt-sucking vampire from Star Trek, as can also be seen there), among many other such examples of blatant racism.

** - Regarding both of those, I have to agree with Dave Chappelle (link NSFW for language): If you don't like chicken or watermelon, something is wrong with you. ¬_¬
