Here are links to the story of a gamer who recently comitted suicide and, in the process, posted about the experience on a forum. In that story is a quote of Thompson's subsequent reaction to the suicide.

When this man finally dies, the world will stink less and hell will stink more.

Also, several outlets of "mainstream media" once again prove themselves to be totally clueless, as usual.

As an aside: Suicide is, to me, one of the most singularly stupid things that any human being can do. The only time I could possibly find it less so is, maybe, in the case of someone with an incurable, quickly degenerating disease or injury or something similar.
