Here are a few interesting looking game remake projects upon which I happened to stumble:

Ultima V: Lazarus. (Uses the Dungeon Siege engine and is complete and ready for download.)

The Ultima 6 Project. (Also uses Dungeon Siege, but is only in the pre-alpha stages. I'll be following this one.)

Ultima IX Redemption. (Uses the Morrowind engine, but also isn't finished. Appears to be an attempt at the Ultima series equivalent of The Silver Lining. This one, in my opinion at least, has the potential to be the coolest of the three.)

Hmm, I foresee a possible purchase of Dungeon Siege in my future, at some point.

Dragon Siege? Not sure what you mean.

Dungeon Siege (http://www.microsoft.com/games/dungeonsiege/) was a PC game released a few years ago. I don't know much about it since I haven't played it myself, yet. I hear it's similar to Diablo, though. Those two Ultima remakes are apparently mods based on the Dungeon Siege engine.

I rank Ultima IX as the most disappointing game of all time. The Ultima series has always been a trailblazer of RPGs. Ultima III: Exodus is probably the most influental RPG of all time due to the massive influence it had on the development of both the Japanese and American "types" of RPGs (i.e. console and computer). Every Ultima after that was groundbreaking and way ahead of its time. Even Ultima VIII, which was not quite up to the standards of the previous entries, was still a good game.

But Ultima IX is crap. It might be a decent game on its own, but as what was supposed to be the final entry in the 9 game series, it stinks.

Ultima IX: Ascension is to the Ultima series what King's Quest: Mask of Eternity is to the King's Quest series. Even on their own merits they were merely mediocre games at best, but in the context of the lineage of games that came before them, they were absolutely horrible.

Ascension, at the very least, had going for it the fact that you still played as the Avatar, instead of some random new guy. Mask of Eternity didn't even have that, given that, except for King Graham for about two seconds in the intro movie, the royal family of Daventry didn't appear in the game at all.

Personally, I place the blame for it all on the respective buy-outs of Origin Systems by Electronic Arts and Sierra by CUC International/Cendant Corporation.
