I hope Mr. Tassi is right and the rumors are completely bogus, but at this point I have far less faith than he does that Microsoft (and Sony, because there have been similar rumors about the PS4 as well) won't be idiotic enough to cut off their noses to spite their faces and try to implement this asinine crap regardless.
And even if they don't make it a standard in the hardware, there are already far too many game publishers out there who are requiring similar things in the software itself such that, in the end, it really doesn't make all that much of a difference anyway. All that putting it into the hardware will do is make it even easier for such publishers. It will also make others who may not have wanted to do it have to either accept it or not put their games on the offending consoles. And how many publishers out there would be willing to entirely forgo the next gen Xbox and Playstation on principle and stick only with the Wii U or PC? Not very many, I would bet.
