It was FUCKING AMAZING. I don't know even know where to begin. Not only is Lewis teaching the class, he's bringing along John Haas (another XBox employee) and Aaron Nicholls (the guy who guest-lectured a couple weeks back for the CS230 class). And get this...both John and Ian have specialized in networking. We did a review of the OSI model tonight, and they explained to us our assignment for the second half of the semester. We're basically making a tank combat game that can support up to 4 players. We can work in teams to make the game, but networking it is an individual project.
The notes and syllabus are on the CS260 public drive now, so you can grab those whenever. Also, it's worth noting that both Klassen and Erhardt sat in on the lecture (Comair wandered in at one point too) and let us know that the reason they were there was because "they do listen" to us. That earned both of them very high marks, in my opinion. CS260 has basically been restructured halfway through the semester to be a class on "Networking for Games". I'm so excited.
Holy shit... It sucks that I missed class today to deal with that utter waste of time and money doctor's appointment. Honestly, though I felt like crap this morning, by around 4 or so I was mostly fine, or at least well enough that I could have probably come on to at least CS260, but by then I'd already made the appointment. That and I was expecting the appointment to be more than the utter waste of time and money that it turned out to be.
Actually, it is still due. But I'm pretty sure I'm not doing it. Right now, the old CS260 grade is (tentatively) worth 30% of our final grade, but they may change that later. One assignment, after getting 4s on the others, isn't going to matter much. Especially considering I still have CS250 I should study for =P
And Hu did give us the grace period on late homeworks as well. At least, assuming that's still valid, given that he's no longer teaching the class and all... At any rate, I may as well finish the review questions and turn it in tomorrow after the CS250 midterm.
