Yeah... you can probably kiss that aspect of it good bye. I think it's extraordinarily naive that he thinks Microsoft wouldn't touch the PC version of it, when he explicitly showed that they were already mucking with the Xbox version of it even before they actually own it.

Also, I like how they keep finding old tweets of Notch's that make him look like an even bigger hypocritical douchebag in retrospect. Just because he might want to step away from Minecraft/Mojang or whatever, did that really mean he had to sell it to fucking Microsoft?

Once Microsoft is in control, the ability to kill off the current Minecraft and launch "Minecraft 2" is laughably easily.

There is no 2. Doing that prevents people from playing on any legit server that's running in online mode. Any running in offline mode is a sitting duck for hackers since anyone could log in as anyone else.

So with that, multiplayer minecraft will die, and that's basically minecraft these days.

At least when Mojang was Mojang, there was a reasonable assumption they wouldn't go that route. After all, Minecraft IS Mojang. But Minecraft is just another game to Microsoft. They don't need it to make billions, but they'll use it that way while they can.
