In this entry from back in February, I said that I'd finally settled on liking wintersummer better than summerwinter, now that I'm back in North Carolina for good. However, on many summer days, such as today, I've been on the verge of reversing this stance yet again to liking winter more. I'm not quite at that point just yet, but I'm probably only a hair's width away from being there.

It's not the temperature. Hell, today wasn't even one of the hotter days, but even on the 90°F-plus days, it's still not intolerable. No, it's mainly because of the interminable goddamn insects, even (especially) inside the house. FYI: this house is ancient, originally constructed at some point during the early Precambrian era I'm fairly sure, though I'd have to check the records on that. As such, it has myriad means of permanent, impossible-to-find-and-seal-them-all ingress for insects of all types. They are on the verge of driving me absolutely bugshit. Pun intended. See? See?! That's just how bugshit they're driving me, to the point that I'm actually making horrible puns like that. If only pure, weapons-grade wrath, radiating off of me in waves such as it is, could serve as insect repellant, that would be great. But, sadly, that is not the case. *weary sigh* -_- If there's one good thing that can be said of the cold of winter that I was lamenting in the other entry, it's that it at least kills (most of) the fucking bugs, or at least renders them dormant. Until the next summer rolls around.

I can agree with you on that. Where I live it's a pretty old building as well so you get things. >_>

But in my case the heat and more importantly the humidity still end up topping the list. I just can't deal with it, and I know you get hotter weather than I do being so much further south. Then again I don't know what the humidity is like for you.

Personally I'll take winter any day - so long as the storms are minimal of course. ^_^ Having just straight -20C with little wind wouldn't make me flinch in the slightest.

(However if we're talking favorite seasons, give me late Fall. Most of the bugs will have been killed off by then, and the snow and super sub-zero temperatures wouldn't have started. Plus it'd be a lot drier than spring with just a bit of wind.)

If we didn't have a decent air conditioner here, I'd probably hate the heat a lot more myself, and my opinion of summer would be a lot lower than it is. After all, that's why I hated summer in WA more than winter, since I had heat in my condo out there but no air conditioner at all.

As for humidity, it's pretty humid here as well. The little digital thermometer/barometer I keep on my computer table currently reads 82% on the humidity, and that's with the AC going. That said, it's also currently only 75°F in here, which is roughly around what it stays with the AC on. And the AC is actually in my room, right next to my bed (not by my choice, but because it's generally the center most room in the house, at least based on the weird |_|-shape configuration of the rooms anyway, though I certainly don't mind it being in here, of course), so it's typically around 3-5 degrees hotter elsewhere in the house, the farther you get away from my room.
