Got less than 3 hours of sleep last night. I went to bed at around 12:30am because I knew I had yet another dentist appointment coming in the morning. I laid there for about two hours with nothing happening, then got up.

Decided to play Brawl for a little while since it was clear that I wasn't going to be going to sleep any time soon. I messed around with Snake's codec taunts for a bit in training mode. It's particularly funny if you KO Snake right near the end of his codec for Luigi, because he'll be screaming "Coooooooleneeeeeel!" just as he's flying off the screen, then the Colonel will still break in and do the usual "Snake? Snaaaaake!" thing on top of that, which in this particular case is just weird. Then I puttered around with my "CD factory" custom level for a little while. I think I've unlocked all of the hidden CDs now though, because the last time I did it I got like 10 or so CD drops in the 10 minutes that I messed with it, but when I finished, only three new musics were unlocked. Unless it's like the stickers and trophies and there are duplicate drops. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere though that the CDs were all unique and that they stopped appearing once you'd unlocked everything, but can't recall where I read that or the veracity of it. Well, if it is the case, then all that's left now as far as I know are whatever CDs are left to unlock in the Challenges thing. At any rate, I got the "over 250 songs unlocked" thing when I finished that.

Took a shower after that and then went back to bed. It was around 5:00am by this time, and I still wasn't all that sleepy. I'm fairly sure I went to sleep at some point after that, but I have no clue how soon or for how long. I seriously doubt that it was for the full 3 and a half hours I was there, though, because I remember vaguely looking at the clock a few times during that period. That's what I get for staying up until the retarded hour of 7:30am or so the day before and then sleeping until 2:30pm or so.

Got up at 8:40am. Left at 8:50am to catch a bus to be at the dentist appointment at 10:00am. Everything went smoothly as usual, though for some reason I always vaguely expect and wait for something horribly catastrophic to happen while I'm there. Like, they tell me that they suddenly have to pull twelve teeth or my mouth will implode, or a drill bit breaking loose and lodging itself in my brain or something like that. One would think I would be used to this by now, but whatever. Guess I shouldn't jinx it. Too late? They put the fluoride goo crap on my teeth again this time (they don't do it every time, for whatever reason, I don't know), which tastes probably about like the rubber cement that it feels like, but with a slightly public-school-water-fountain-y fluoride taste to it. They say it's supposed to taste like bubble gum or some crap, but it doesn't. It's pretty nasty, and I'm supposed to leave it on for four hours before I can brush it off, and I'm not supposed to eat certain foods until then (but I usually just say screw it and don't eat anything at all). Before I left, I got my dentist to write me another prescription for the high powered super-duper toothpaste I've been using for the past few months or so because I was running out. I don't know that I really needed it, but it's only $7.00 a tube at Bartel's (as opposed to the $22 they were going to charge me there at the dentist office for two tubes of pretty much the same thing).

Came back home, stopping by QFC to pick up some stuff and then Bartel's to pick up the prescription über toothpaste. And now, I'm here, mucking around, waiting until around 1:55pm or so, when I'll leave to go catch a bus to DigiPen. I should probably be working on my game project now rather than piddling in livejournal, but whatever. Today is GAM Lab from 2:30pm to 4:30pm, then CS 420 from 6:30pm to 7:50pm. *sigh* I hate that two-hour break in between there. I have an assignment due in CS 420 today, but I finished that yesterday. Well, actually, I pretty much had it finished on the original due date of last Wednesday, but since he pushed it out to today, I decided to polish it up a bit. Well, that and fix an issue I found with it on Wednesday as I was about to turn it in but didn't bother to fix then because I saw that he had extended it to today. Minor thing and probably wouldn't have counted off or anything, but I'm still glad I caught it and fixed it.

I intend to go to bed early enough tonight to sleep for 10-12 hours, if I can manage that, which would mean going to bed some time between 1:00am and 3:00am. I say that now, but I'll probably end up staying up until 4 or 5am pooping around on the Internet playing video games working on homework or whatever like I usually do and only get the normal 8 hours (or less, if I don't actually fall asleep, which happens annoyingly often, even when I do go to bed much earlier so I usually figure why bother). Still, it's nice at least for now to be able to actually do that (i.e. stay up until 5:00am) and still get a full 8 hours of sleep, since my earliest class Monday-Thursday is not until 2:30pm. On Fridays I still have the noon ENG class and the 2:30 GAM lecture, though I missed both of those this past Friday. My best schedule at DigiPen was still last semester though, when I had no classes at all on Fridays. I miss that. It's gonna kinda suck when I finally land a job and have to be in at the usual 8:00am or 9:00am or whatever. On the other hand, jobs usually last the eight hours and then you're free the rest of the day after that (barring any crunch or whatever, since this is the game industry and all).*** That and it usually doesn't take me all that long to adjust to a new schedule and sleeping patterns, given working over the summer from 8:30 to 5:00 M-F for the past three summers, as well as the crazy weird sleep patterns I get into and out of during things like Christmas and Spring breaks. During the three weeks of Christmas break I had fallen into the pattern of sleeping from between 8:00pm and 11:00pm North Carolina time (which is 5:00pm to 8:00pm out here in Washington time) until around 6:00am EST or so (3:00am PST). But then during the week of Spring Break I got into the horrible habit of regularly staying up until between 6:00am and 8:00am and then sleeping until 3:00pm to 5:00pm. That Sunday before returning to school and the Monday following sucked ass, needless to say.

***Speaking of jobs in the game industry, my DigiPen GAM team finally had our meeting with Amaze last Wednesday, which I think went pretty well. They sent out a test on Friday for the three of us to do and asked for some code samples, all of which I completed and sent back to them yesterday. I would have done it earlier, but I was kind of out of commission for all of Friday and a good chunk of Saturday, as indicated by my previous three posts or so. It's still not in the bag yet, but it's looking pretty good so far, at least from my perspective. While Amaze wasn't my first choice, I don't think I'd mind working there at all. Their offices are only about 3 or 4 miles from where I live now. My family, and I think my parents in particular, kinda want me to move back to North Carolina after I get out of DigiPen, so I've kinda sorta been half-assedly looking into jobs in that area, around Raleigh or Cary, Research Triangle and that sort of thing. There are quite a few there, but honestly, I kinda would rather stay out here, at least for the immediate future. After that, who knows. Assuming I do get a job out here, of course.
